Metallica today reveals the details of "Metallica Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture)," the soundtrack companion to the forthcoming 3D feature film, "Metallica Through The Never."

The two disc CD set will be released on the band's own record label Blackened Recordings this coming September 24th and highlights last year's career spanning sets at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film.

Both the CD and digital album will be available 9/24 at all retailers. There will also be a vinyl edition of the soundtrack album available in both 33 1/3RPM and special limited numbered 45RPM versions later in the fall.

"Let's hear it for the old school soundtrack!" said Metallica's Lars Ulrich. "Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way fuckin' cool."

A teaser trailer for the movie can be found here, and the soundtrack's track listing is as follows:

Disc 1
1. The Ecstasy Of Gold
2. Creeping Death
3. For Whom The Bell Tolls
4. Fuel
5. Ride The Lightning
6. One
7. The Memory Remains
8. Wherever I May Roam
9. Cyanide
10. ...and Justice For All

Disc 2
1. Master Of Puppets
2. Battery
3. Nothing Else Matters
4. Enter Sandman
5. Hit The Lights

Have they no shame?
Still pimping the same songs from 20+ years ago?
Exactly where is the incentive to buy this?
Not even one new song?
Talk about greedy cash grab!
Just wait ii they pull a Lucas and reboot the first four albums.

DJ....you're right but soundtracks are usually used for a cover song or a new song.
This would be the perfect vehicle to get people excited for a new album....but....nooooooo.

Got no problem whatsoever with any classic band cashing in and living off their best work. Not interested in this release at all, but give them credit for at least identifying what their "bread and butter" is.
