Black Sabbath Removes Video Backdrop Due To Complaints

Photo of Black Sabbath

Band Photo: Black Sabbath (?)

According to Black Sabbath's official website, the video backdrop that the band are using on the current Ozzfest dates that compares President Bush to Adolf Hitler has been yanked due to "complaints."

Webmaster Joe Siegler also added: "From concert reports I've read, and an email I got from someone associated with the tour who wants to remain anonymous (I have no idea who it is, they're using a free mail account), it would appear that the Bush/Hitler image from the War Pigs video has been removed. The other day, Bill Ward came out on his website saying he wanted to distance himself from it, and there were a couple of reviews that mentioned said video. Today I noticed that there was a USA Today article that says '...was removed after complaints.' While I've not heard anything official from Sabbath's camp about this, I'll go with what was said here and say it was removed due to complaints."

Yah, I was wondering what all the buzz was, because I did not see any such images of Bush on the War Pigs video in Bristow, VA - just the standard war footage which contained WWII and some that looked like it might have been from teh Iraq conflict, but I wasn't sure. If you want to call Bush a War Pig, I can't argue, but to compare him directly with Hitler is extreme and from a communications perspective it alienates many of the fans who might not side with such an extreme view.

I saw the show in Hartford, and even though I agree with the compairson of Bush to Hitler and also a
clown (they showed some footage of bush with a clown nose at one point in the song), I don't think it's right for a band or any artist, to force their opinion on a capitive audience, unless it happens to be the subject of the event. Like a political rally.

Actually, Sabbath probably didn't even have anything to do with what was shown on the screen. I say this because I've done Visual light shows like that for 60's Rock bands.
The guy doing their video lighting is most likely the one who chose to put it up there. Because he had the footage and it goes well with the music. After all........The song is WAR PIGS

I have never liked it when bands pull politics into their music. I don't believe that It was any member of Black Sabbath's idea to put Bush up in the warpigs video. I mean they're f***ing english!, americans don't give two sh**s about Tony Blair, or anyother world leader. I was at the Bistow VA show that Deathbringer talked about, and I didn't see any images of Bush, but I did see Hitler. Just stock WWII footage that they show you in school or something. I don't like Bush either but, Lincoln was more of a warpig than bush. look it up it's true, he ordered 75,000 men to attack our own people (the south) and everyone thinks it's okay because the south is just a bunch of "hicks"!

And yeah, liberals do try to advertise they're political goals. And you're an idiot of you think Lincoln was more of a "warpig" than Bush. And defending the right of a woman to choose, the rights of gay couples to at least have civil unions, and defending civil liberties and privacy laws (which the Patriot Act violates entirely) is what Kerry is trying to do, then I fail to see how he is taking any rights away from us. A women's right to choose should include choosing not to be a f***ing whore in the first place that way the f***ing c*** wouldn't have to kill her baby. And abortion and GAY RIGHTS aren't exactly guaranteed by the constitution.CLINTON eroded the 2nd amendment and the first amendment with his plitical correctness or as I like to call it "CLINTONSPEAK"!!!!! The Clinton-Gore legacy....

It was 1987! Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration. There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning! He was being drilled by a senator;
"Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"
Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."
The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?"
"No, sir," continued Ollie.
"No? And why not?" the senator asked.
"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."
"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.
"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.
"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"
"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.
At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.
"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.
"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.
"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth.
"The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

>; By the way, that senator was Al Gore

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners." However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands, The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State,Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released. Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

This is the Real Clinton-Gore legacy

This is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

Okay, you take two isolated incidents and make it seem like the Democrats are f***ing affiliated with Al Qaeda themselves.

Okay, I've got another little anecdote for you. In the late 90's, while Bush was governor of Texas, He invited senior Taleban officials to meet with him in Texas to discuss the possibility of putting a pipeline carrying natural gas from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan. Not one American media station reported this, only the BBC in fact. So, why was Bush supporting the Taleban if they were such a threat to national security. I'll tell you why, he and his damn oil buddies probably made millions off doing business with the Taleban. That's the Bush legacy for you. Disgusting

And what about the reports given to Bush way back in early August of 2001, while Bush was pissing away his vacation at his ranch in Texas. These reports that spelled out in explicit detail what bin Laden was planning to do. Or how Bush signed a bill to cut finances for airport security on September 10, 2001.

It's ridiculously obvious that Bush didn't give two sh**s about finding Osama bin Laden, he gave up as soon as he could focus his attentions on Iraq and Saddam. Bush is obviously trying now to bolster any success of the war as a political tool to win the election.

And what about the No Child Left Behind Act? Such bullsh**, it punishes schools who cannot meet standardized test scores by taking funding away from them. This will only drain public schools of money, and while it may give schools incentive to improve, it strips them of their ability to do so.

And finally, THE PATRIOT ACT ANALLY RAPES THE 4TH AMENDMENT AND TOSSES IT IN A DUMPSTER. And I don't see too much how Clinton took away your dispicable 2nd Amendment. As far as I can tell you can buy as many deadly firearms as your heart desires at any random gun show. For f*** sake, they sell guns at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart, for christ's sake, shut the f*** up about your precious 2nd amendment.

Not that the last line of that post doesn't ENTIRELY prove me right, but I'll address the rest of what you said for the hell of hit.

You make a lot of unwarranted claims.

You say Clinton "ended" the first amendment. How? All I see is Bush hurting this amendment by trying to censor the reports of 9/11 investigations, and not let anyone know about his business relationship with the bin Laden family. And if you're talking about Joe Lieberman being such the censorship champion, well that's true. But Lieberman might as well be a f***ing Republican he's so pro-Iraq war.

You say Clinton ended the second amendment, but no, for real, I'm serious, THEY SELL GUNS AT WAL-MART. Trust me, your precious f***ing second amendment is well intact.

You say Clinton "raped due process." How, exactly? Because all I see is Bush DENYING people their right to trial by jury, another right that is provided for in the Constitution. The Patriot Act allows for the detaining of people without an arrest warrant or trial by jury. Arabic people were racially profiled like no other after 9/11.

And if you want to talk about corporate welfare, and only looking out for the elitist groups, don't. You don't know what you're talking about. Bush only looks out for his own wealthy elitist class. Proof? Whatever happened to all those Enron guys who were supposed to get theirs because they f***ED over their working class employees with insider trading. Nothing happened to them because they were some of the Bush campaign's biggest contributors. And you say Clinton f***ed up the laboring class?

As for that mindless dribble about Democrats not believing in religious freedom, being "Anti-Christian", Kerry is a Catholic alright, and it seems to me that Bush is far more anti-religious freedom. Hence him doing nothing to stop the discrimination against Islamic Americans and sponsoring legislation (Patriot Act) which would result in the unconstitutional detaining of these people.

So Bush has violated the first amendment by censoring those who sought to investigate the false intelligence on which he based this war, violated the fourth amendment by sponsoring the Patriot Act which allows of unreasonable searches and seizures, and it also violates the Bill of Rights by taking away peoples' due process rights of trial by jury.

This alone is seriously plenty of reason to be completely disgusted by this administration which has rewritten environmental laws behind closed-doors to benefit their own businesses and completely betrayed the American people.

Oh, and you say Clinton divided people. I have never seen our nation more divided than right now under President George W. Bush. It is pretty much divided right down the middle about this war, and if that's not being divisive I have no idea what is.

Seriously, vote Kerry.
