Crimson Glory Singer Todd La Torre To Join Forces With Queensryche Members For Rising West

Crimson Glory vocalist Todd La Torre announced that he will join forces with Queensryche members Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren to form the new band Rising West. The band will perform hits from the first five Queensryche albums from the S/T EP through "Empire." In addition, the band will also record a debut studio LP in the summer.

La Torre set the record straight on his Facebook page amid rumors that he left Tampa based power metal band Crimson Glory:

"Hello my facebook friends :) Just for the record and for those asking about Crimson Glory, I am NOT leaving Crimson Glory, I am embarking on another musical endeavor with the members of Queensryche. I am proud and honored to be a part of this! CG is still writing new material for our record, DO NOT WORRY :) This is going to be an amazing new chapter \m/ Thank you for all of your support!"

The band will make its debut performances on June 8-9, 2012 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle. For a taste of what La Torre would sound like singing old Queensryche, check out this performance of "Queen of the Reich":

There are a ton of rumors circulating that Geoff Tate had a falling out with the band, but I cannot confirm any of them. Of course, then you have the Rocklahoma incident of Sunday with Geoff telling the crowd that they sucked. Weird stuff going on with him....

Huh, well at least the track sounded great - La Torre does quite a nuanced Tate impression.

This is another QR side project if the chosen singer is interested in staying with Crimson Glory. I dunno. The last two Queensryche side proejcts: Soulbender from Michael Wilton was a metal project but Slave to the System from Scott Rockenfield was clearly nu-metal influenced. And some of the recent songs penned by Wilton and Jackson border on the side of the Hear in the Now Frontier meets straight ahead rock of Empire.

Interesting but I clearly think this will not be a progressive metal record. And so many Tate clones running around, it baffles it took them this long to choose a singer.

I think its been long over due for something to shake this band up. Geoff obviously has way to much control over what does and doesn't happen in this band. The other members have probably had enough of being silenced. There is some amazing talent in the other 4 members. Its time to re ignite the flame, speak the word and kick some a$$ once again. KINGSRYCHE.
