The Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman and Mastodon's Brent Hinds have recently formed a new band alongside members of The Mars Volta and Jane's Addiction.

Formed under the working name of Giraffe Tongue, the band currently has some material written, although there is no information on when the band's debut album will be released.

Brent Hinds has explained the delay to Noisecreep.com by saying, “We tried to get together and do an album, but there’s been no time. We want to record crazy stuff and Ben is working on that, but it’s been hard to get together.”

Brent Hinds is in a couple side projects that I'm told are great on their own outside of Mastodon, and the other supergroup featuring a memeber of the Mars Volta is pretty great (T.R.A.M. I think? It's also got Tosin Abasi, and the drummer to suicidal tendencies).

Now I'm not really a janes addiction fan by any means, but Ben Weinman is gonna f*** sh** up regardless. You cant put that guy in a band and have it not sound off-the-wall, even if it sucks lol

Not sure about the name. Noticed another 'supergroup' used similar naming structure - Chickenfoot.
I guess there are worse animal/anatomy combinations:
There's the obvious Donkeyd!ck, Baboona$$ and Cameltoe, but there are other worse combinations than Giraffe tongue, I suppose.
Elephanttusk, Whaletail, Monkeyballs, Peacockneck... I guess Giraffe Tongue isn't bad after all.
