New Feature Film "Hesher" Inspired By Metallica's Original Bassist Cliff Burton

A new feature film, titled "Hesher," is set to open in theaters on May 16, 2011 in which the main character was reportedly inspired by late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton - who tragically passed away on September 27, 1986 in a vehicle accident. A trailer for the film, which features Metallica's music throughout, can be found in the player below. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays the title character, commented on Metallica's response to the film by saying;
"They dug the movie. It was a real honor and I took a lot of inspiration for this character from the basis of some of their early albums [and] this guy named Cliff Burton, who played on 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Ride The Lightning'. And when the band saw it, they were like, 'You know what?! He reminds us of Cliff,' and we didn't even tell them that's what we were going for. And they let us use their songs and I was actually moved because I grew up headbanging to Metallica."

Defintley seeing this, man. And I really like Joseph Gordon-Levitt for his acting and personality. His interview on Conan about the movie was really cool, and hes a wicked guy. He showed the crowd how to headbang and destroyed the coffee table. Haha. Love that dude.

Weird, KROQ played the trailer this morning and they portrayed it as a coming of age tale about a young man whose mother dies and his "Hesher" friend moves in. Nothing from what I heard gave me any premise to believe it was based on Cliff Burton, but then again it was 6AM and I was on the freeway not paying that much attention.
