Metallica Planning To Enter The Recording Studio In Spring

Band Photo: Metallica (?)
In a recent interview with Danish tabloid newspaper, Ekstra Bladet, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich stated that the band is looking at entering the studio this Spring to commence work on the band's next studio album, which will be the first since 2008's "Death Magnetic." An excerpt from the chat reads as follows:
"There is a really good vibe in the band at the moment. Previously, Metallica would hang us by the throat when we came home from a mammoth world tour, but this time it's different. Therefore it does not appear to be a long time before we start work on a new album. I think we'll be ready in March and April - when the creative process reaches a boil we'll go into the studio.
"We really enjoy it now. It has helped in our relationship that we all have families and that we have children who work well together. There were some bad years when we never really talked together, we just hopped in a vodka bottle and went out to look for ladies. It meant we did not share our feelings with each other. Today we talk a lot about our children and our families, and it has helped that we have something else to talk about than what setlist is tonight."

Oh and don't look for it to be out until 2013 given their recording practices. Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy can record way more aggressive albums in 2 or 3 weeks but it takes Metallica 2 or 3 years and the results are hit and miss. Sad...

ah hell....this fvcking sorry story, AGAIN? what can the idiot savants possibly come up with this time? Let's consider:
Turd Danish banging away on the trashcan lids like fvcking Special Ed...
Hokey Hetfield and his pseudo groovy 'yeah, yeah, yea-uh' crappy Rocker vocals...
the Noodle Poodle recycling all the bits and pieces of his tired, overplayed leads...
and poor ol Grape Ape bumbling along with his hands tied and his head buried in the sand....
and i wonder what brilliant production genius they will entrust with the impossible task of trying to make their shoddy 'efforts' actually listenable this time around?
BAA-AA!! BAA-AA!!

I'm a hater too, but seriously, all of the haters are just as interested as the fans so don't act like it's any different. Death Magnetic wasn't a return to form, nor will anything they ever do again. But it was a step in the right direction (minus the porduction). Never mind I give up, for every good there's a bad. All we can do is wait and watch it unfold............................

It is possible for legacy acts to put out great albums that compare to their older classics. Overkills new one is their best in 20 years. Forbiddens new one took me by surprise. And Testament. Holy f***. Formation was their best in 20 years. Maybe Metallica sees this and will respond in kind.

brand: NEVER!! ;)
Tenny, good point, but I still like the Gathering over Formation....fvckin record rips! and James is a highly underrated guitar player...i think it was also Lombardo's best drum recording EVER
metallica fvckin sucks...has for 20 goddamn years now

Rat, I fvcking love you.
*sigh* I Don't Care is recording some new Who Gives A Fvck...
branded: member when I was just a baby here and was like METALLICA 4 EVER and you were like METALLICA SUCKS and I was like FVCK YOU WHITE TRASH PIG and you were like STUPID WHITE b**** and then we kissed and made up? Good times.

@ HR that Gathering album definitely was a a$$ kicker. Came out at the height of the grunge era if I recall overlooked most certainly. I always preferred Bostaph over Lombardo any way. Just my opinion. And yes Exodus has totally made ammends 4 that crap force of habit with their last 3 albums. James Murphy Obituarys Cause of Death. !!

LDB you know i fvcking love you too... and i miss ya around here :)
Ten, Bostaph over Bombardo any fvcking day for sure! one of the finest drummers to ever grace this wonderful planet....but we still gotta respect the pioneer, and he fvcking OWNS it on the Gathering
\m/
for your interest, check out Jaane Saarenpaa of The Crown...off the fvckin charts, man...but the production is generally kind of sh!t, gotta listen past it
i fvcking love the Crown...and i honestly can't understand why any true fvcking METAL head would not
ah hell, fvck it!

cmon dudes, pretty sure if metallica released master of puppets 2, you still wouldnt be happy. to the dude saying DM solos sucked...really? fark i thought they werent half bad. hoping the next album doesnt take a million years and the production is improved. i hate rubins work these days the production of DM and world painted blood were attrocious.
as for bostaph being a better drummer than lombardo, as much as i like bostaphs unorthadox pounding style, after seeing both live, dave is 10 times tighter. bostaph doesnt keep his rhythm like lombardo, who is to me the true pioneer of thrash drumming. that being said testament live was one of the most f***en insane things ive ever seen, almost as good as kreator...almost.

Tallica_fan - They were crap man. Do you play guitar?
I like Metallica and I always have. Went and seen them 3 times in concert when they were last here. But DM solos are horrible. Sounds like cats on a hot tin roof IMO.
I agree about the production of Rick Rubins work too man. Weak tones on the guitar, Over all volume of the album is just too high and it sounds mashed.
World Painted Blood would have been an ok Slayer Album if it had a guitar tone like Seasons or even God Hates us All. Just sounds way too weak, making the album impossible to listen to for me.

hey trendkill i do play guitar and i thought the solos were ok. i really thought DM sounded like the freshest thing since the black album. i dont think u need a million notes a second to have a good solo its one thing i've always liked about kirks playing. it may be just simple pentatonics but it works. i accept they are not the best musicans out there but they work well together (well at least to my ears) i don't mean to sound like a metal noob coz its not the case, i've been listening to it for a long time now and i still love this band plain and simple. i love alot of bands but metallica and pantera are still the 2 best metal bands of all time by a country mile IMO. but i understand other ppl have different taste, thats fair enough- i just get the impression past disappointiments taint anything from here on which is bullsh**. even bad production isnt enough to turn me off an album its simply about the music. thats why i love live gigs its a true measure of how good a band is at that time.

recently i listened to DM with headphones it sounded awful
i had only listened in the car previously so i had thought that the production talk was bs from b rock's supporters
Rubin should not be brought back based on that
they stuck w/ brock too long and missed an opportunity
for a great hard rock album
DM was average hard rock on par with Metallica's best moments post Justice
anyone who regards the BA as great is lost
i prefer some of load/re to most of the BA
Metallica are comfortable
they have no excess testosterone
someone needs to tell them they suck as conventional songwriters
during the 80's they were great metal composers
Metal has passed them by
they are not capable of anything original/bleeding edge
i am a fan and enjoyed their rnrhof performance
Terry Date would make a good big name producer
they won't choose him
they stick w/ Rubin

please don't forget that sh!tallica FVCKING SUCKS live....turd danish can't even play his own mediocre drum lines...hetfield just butchers the fvck out of the vox...the strudeling poodle looks and acts more like a fvcking faggit than ever before
bob c0ck-less has got to be one of the worst 'metal' producers EVER
Ruby lost his magic touch long ago
the tired and haggard metalli-critter needs to be put out of everyones fvcking misery....it is the humane and rightful thing to do...them disgusting fvcking curs have been ENTIRELY dispossessed of any lick of honor, class or dignity for well over a decade
spit in their fvcking faces, p!ss on their goddamned graves

Tallica_Fanny: I'm one of the worst guitarists ever to walk the face of the Earth. And even I know that Hammet's leads in DM suck. Going straight pentatonic is fine, as long as you do something with them. I've seen quite a bit of originality doing a run down the pentatonic, but none whatsoever with Hammet. I do that same run as a warm up before I start practicing, and he plays it in his solos. But it's not just DM, he's been doing it forever. He has very few solos that I find creative/good to listen to.
I was about to say he's the weakest link of Metallica, then I remembered Ulrich.
49. writes:
'tallica_fanny?' no need to be a smartass. im not claiming hammett to be the best guitarist out there but his style suits the band. i like what i like. you like what you like. metallica dont claim to be the fastest or the most brutal, but they were creative enough to change the way it was done and since pantera i havent seen many bands that can claim that. im gona stop defending this band now because a) it sounds like they're the only band i listen to and b) im startin to sound like a sheep.

Can not believe these dudes aren't signed ! Anyways good 2 see metal heads from other parts of the country know about them. Hope they make it 2 Charlotte! They'll definitely impress yall!

Id like to think that they would replace kirk hammet with kerry king, and james hetfield and wutever the bassist's name is with jeff hannemen and tom araya. Also they should replace larz with Dave lombardo.....and also change the name of the band to slayer.......so basically they should just give slayer all of their fame and money....that might deposerfy the world

hopefully this will be out by the end of 2011. the year is shaping up to be an exciting one for classic metal, with metallica, van halen, aerosmith and kiss all in the studio working on new albums. whitesnake also has "forevermore" coming out in march. hell yeah!
