The Big Four Of Thrash Metal Announces That Only One Date Will Take Place In The U.S.

Band Photo: Metallica (?)
It has been announced that the U.S. version of the Big Four festival will be taking place on April 23 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California (the same spot where the Coachella Festival takes place the weekend before). According to postings made here on Facebook and on several other online media outlets the highly anticipated festival, which made numerous appearances throughout Europe, will be the one and only "Big Four" event held in the United States, contradicting earlier reports of a full U.S. "Big Four" tour. In the meantime, the following trailer has been posted online:

not that i would go to this fvcking junkshow carnival if it was right around the corner...but all the hype, the OVERWHELMING demand for this stupid thing from those who actually DO want to see this thing tour the bands' home soil....
and THIS is all they muster?

i wanted to clarify that i was not bustin on your town Ruben, i drive through it several times a year, no problem with the place itself
but it is one hell of a logistically difficult to access location for a one-off show of this 'magnitude'
is there going a free metalli-charter bus fleet from LAX for the traveling fans??
what a fvcking disgusting example of short changing the collective fanbase...the very people that continue to provide these geriatric fvcks their livelihoods, and support their indulgent lifestyles
fvcking absurd....

its kill em all, not fvck em all!
come on rat, get in your rig, stop in redlands, we'll carpool it to the gig, pound beers all day, and you can flip off the bands all day and pass out in the beer garden....doesnt that sound like fun? at about $100 a head and about $10 beers...

Of course the the only show is in Southern California. God I hate people from California ;)
Wow, this is a massive site and where they have the hipster-fest Coachella. As tempting as it is to go, I really don't see it happening.
RTB- I sent you an e-mail about two weeks ago, did you get it?

I call bullsh**! More stadium dates 2 be announced I'm sure. These guys aint getting any younger and they know nostalgia sells. Anyone who thinks any of this sh** is 4 the fans is fooling themselves. Time is so right 4 these guys to pad their retirement portfolios. I don't blame them. Demands there! Ozzfest was a one off in San Bernidino in 96. Look what happened one year later. More dates 2 come trust me.

Metallica is a brand a business! They won't pass up this opportunity to make more millions. What are they gonna do? Go record another album that will sell less albums than the last one? Music industry is caving in on itself. Touring is best way 2 make money now. Think about it 100 dollar tickets 45 dollar t shirts. Goldmine. They are just trying to build interest with the one off announcement. By May more dates 2 be announced. Giants Stadium Soldier Field etc. Call em sellouts if u want but I'd do the same thing. I think everybody else would 2.

ya know i love ya RT, but that is NOT going to happen my brother....i will not contribute one fvcking penny to ANYthing that would give a cut that fvcking pitiful twit turd Danish...i've given that piece of fvcking human sh!t WAY too much cash as it is....seen metallica 4 times, last in 93...fvckin KICK ASS, every time!...owned every record up thru black, including some sweet bootleg/import sh!t...wasted 12 good american dollars because of all the 'retro-tallica' hype circulating around that fvcking cacophony of washed out talent St. Chunder...one of the worst fvcking productions EVER....i ain't a fvckin litterbug, but i threw that garbage straight out my goddamned truck window halfway thru the second time around....FVCKING GARBAGE
and that was the day i said never again! fvck these fvcking tools...like Duke said on the other topic, i'll keep my fond memories of when these fvckers were fvcking REAL, and owned the fvcking times
whiplash lyrics under the spell of insufferable decay:
'we'll never stop, we'll never quit, cause we're metallica'
yes, rome has f***ing crumbled....now, should i tell y'all how i REALLY feel??

I hear u hellrat! Trust me back in 84 if Metallica recorded an hour of fart @ burp sounds I would of thrown the goat and said the genius of Metallica! But now I'm far More pragmatic. I know its always about money! Saw Metallica blow Ozzy of the stage in Worcester Mass in 86 with Cliff! That's the memory I wish to hold. But there's a lot of guitar hero playing kids who would like 2 see this and I don't begrudge them !Heavy metal parking lot can never be recreated. We can only dream.

Hey you might wanna check this site and other rumor mills and background... They cant do too many dates because Megadeth is doing Mayhemfest and Im telling you that Metallica is rumored for Ozzfest. Plus the guys of Metallica have a good relationship with Ozzy so I beleive it. So back off maybe they do more next year when they arent already touring.

31. writes:
Also F*** YOU Hellrat. You obvoiusly are head deep in the hate garbage that has befallen the gods of heavy metal. I am personally tired of it. So you dont like their music post black album... GET OVER IT. I wasnt a big fan either but they are still the greatest metal band of all time. On top of that Death Magnetic is a beast of a record that you didnt give a chance becasue you didnt like their later albums... YOU ARE A DUMBA** then because it was awesome (Not as good as the first 4 albums but great). Probably will get smashed by the Metali-haters that read this but I dont care... ROCK ON METALLICA!!!!!!!!!!!!

32. writes:
To the above commenter Why in the world would Metallica agree to do Ozzfest? They can sell out the same sheds on their own. If the Osbourns nearly bankrupted the tour 5 years ago paying System of a Down 350 thousand a gig what would they have 2 pay Metallica? Also Mayhem Fest dates end August 4 I believe. Big 4 could tour all of August. 10 to 12 stadium dates. That's where the money is. I'm with Hellrat on this. The Metallica of my teen years died along time ago. Still like them but it aint the same.

31---go look at the other topic you fvcking c0cksmoker...go shovel down that load of sh** yer buddy turd danish is feeding ya...tell tell me what you fvcking know about it
Tenny, that ultimate sin tour back in 86 was my first metallica show as well (tingley coliseum) and they fvcking kicked the sh** out of it!!
ozzy was fvcking pork, and jake was pretty cheesy :)

this is why events like these are hard to organise, coz everyones a f***en critic. f*** me dead no one even talks about the other 3 bands coz its all drowned out with 'metallica sold out, post black album is sh**' it gets exhausting to f***en listen to time and time again. ffs you dont hear anyone goin on about the abomination that was 'risk' but people will talk your head off all day about the fact that metallica has made money off their music and blabber on all day at their digust for the change in direction they took. as far as im concerned you cant justify the amount of hatred for practically a double album and a scrappy effort from a man fresh out of rehab. if ya's had quit whining and actually given death magnetic a chance you'd hear that it is a f***en top record. i understand that people are sh**ted off coz they go way back with this band, but stop feeling like they owe you something. they do what they do , like it, or dislike it just stop trying to vent your anger on the rest of the metal community. clearly there is something to like if there are millions out there that enjoyed songs like outlaw torn and bleeding me. if people actually like it how the f*** can they be wrong. obviously the old days were the best days but you could say that about almost any band. im not tryin to defend the band or be a sheep, just saying your first reaction doesnt have to be to start bashing them as soon as they are mentioned, not because it makes me cry for my beloved band but because its so annoying to listen to. its like this sudden craze to mention that bieber fa**ot 24/7 that does my head in too.
36. writes:
calm, brother TF
nah, them dudes don't owe me nothin, i got plenty out of em, and they did likewise with my money...and it was a great deal all around!! nevermind st. chunder
i could give a fvck what happens to them; i am sick of seeing YOU good people who still enjoy and support them fvcks get toyed with and gleaned of your hard earned dollars by this capitalist marketing entity...so please don't misunderstand where i'm coming from
YOU enduring fans deserve more...why? because these fvcking snake oil dealers promised it to you! that's what pisses me off, and it goes for ALL them fvckers, not just metallica
make grand tours of places that provide their coffers the highest premium, and then sell the rest of ya a fvcking movie ticket or a goddamned DVD?? i guess that's good enough for y'all then eh? you see where the sheep reference comes from a bit more clearly now? go listen to what the turd danish' latest ridiculous fvcking sales pitch is, and tell me then who is the goddamned 'leper messiah'
and yeah, i HAVE heard their last record...and if i had been foolish enough to have wasted the money on it without hearing it first, i would have thrown that fvcking garbage out the goddamned window as well!

"You play for us! The f***ing fans who pay your bills and help you live your f***ing dreams!"
*audible laughter*
Here I'll stake my position - most people in this thread are whiny babies. The big four owe you nothing. They don't owe you to play more dates, they don't owe you to play in the US, they owe you nothing. Think tickets are too pricy? Don't go then retard. Most of those guys are hitting 50 soon and have families, I just can't fathom how anyone could be so backward as to hate on a band for not playing shows that were never promised. The mental loops that takes is beyond me.

I don't see anything wrong with venting. Most responses show passion. I myself eat sh** and piss metal. I work a real job 12hr shifts and I don't live in my parents basement. What are u Cynic some voice of reason? Chill. Sit back and get a kick out of the comments like I am. U calling people whine asses or retards would be similar 2 me calling u a poser I don't know u and u don't know me. I don't hide behind a fake name dude. Hit me up retenneyjr@gmail.com.

No just the incredulity at people hating on a band they actually want to see built up until my thoughts just exploded onto the keyboard. You can tell because insulting people isn't normally my thing haha. It's a lot easier to tell whining from posing through text.
Whew... I'm back to chill. You can see my real name and details in my profile.

its a unique situation because ur dealing with a band that has become so large scale. metallica is a business and not everything is in the control of the 4 musicians. but at the end of the day its gota be about the music, i personally dont give a f*** about anything but what im listening to. its not to say i dont research bands and learn about them but nothing can affect whether i like the music, but the music itself.
hellrat i agree with much of what you say, but i dont believe i am an 'enduring fan' as i dont find anything hard about listening to the music i love. i do realise that metallica's direction change in the grunge era (if i can call it that) was massive, but there are some worthy songs. regardless of the fact that i could easily name 10 things on the spot wrong with st anger, there are some bright sparks. truly the only actual point i was trying to make was not that i find the metallica bashing unjustifiable (even tho i in fact do) but that it is just the most repetitive overdone thing discussed in metal whenever metallica seems to be brought up. in the case of the big 4 its overshadowing any discussion of the other 3 brilliant bands...and like cynic touched on alot of the time people who bash the band are actually long time fans or people who want to see them. its as if people hold a f***en grudge against the band or some sh** its ridiculous.
lets be realistic here, if kill em all through to justice were easy enough to replicate, they wouldnt such masterpieces. i commend any band that experiments with different sounds. there's enough iron maidens and AC/DC's out there already. like i said i understand peoples beef with the band, but i still think they put on a phenomenal show, especially on the world magnetic tour.
anyways so how bout that weather huh? :p

I'm tired of Metallicrap's money mongering garbage.
Yea, Junior you're right. At the end of the day it is one big battle of the bands, and every one kicks Metallicrap's a$$, especially Megadeth and Slayer.
