Thorns of the Carrion to Reunite for One Disc
Thorns of the Carrion is slated to reform strictly for the recording and release of the band's 3rd full-length album 'The Waking Dirge'. The plan is for rehearsals in November, then the recording to start in December.
This will mark the last Thorns venture by founding member Allen Scott, but the return of original vocalist Matt Chapman (growls on the demo tapes and 'The Scarlet Tapestry' album) and drummer/vocalist Ash Thomas, with other guest musicians as well. 'The Waking Dirge' will be the only track on the album, a 45 minute song of slow, mournful doom/death metal. Gone is the avant-garde classical stylings of 'The Scarlet Tapestry' and the gothic metal extremes and speed of 'Eve Songs'. The album will be mainly instrumental, an exercise in pure funeral doom metal. Best described as 'Memories Forever Unadorned' meets 'The Willow Weeps for Me' meets 'Eve of the Emerald Sun' and 'The Lover's Melancholy'.
More news will be posted shortly, as well as a completely revamped homepage and the posting of more unreleased mp3's. A live Cd will be released in Japan on Deserted Factory Records, and will be made available in the states. More info to come...
