Mayhem to Reissue Wolf's Lair Abyss
Candlelight USA has confirmed October 14th as the release date for the reissue of Mayhem’s Wolf's Lair Abyss. The recording continues the label's classic reissue series - adding to earlier reissues by Arcturus, Fleurety and Ved Buens Ende.
Originally released in 1998 for the Misanthropy label, Wolf Lair’s Abyss bridged the studio gap between full-length albums just after the media started to “forget” about the band’s criminal activities. It is the first time the album is available for US fans (previously only available as an expensive import or bootleg). Featuring the line-up of Maniac, Hellhammer, Necrobutcher and Blasphemer, it is an essential piece to the band’s musical legacy..
In other news, as previously reported, Mayhem have canceled their scheduled recording sessions at Denmark’s Puk Studio and will now take a mobile studio into the mountains of Norway for approximately five weeks.
The drum tracks will likely be laid down in a studio in Oslo and then those files will be taken with Mayhem to wherever they stay in the mountains. The band will be accompanied by their technician, Borge Finstad, for this recording. The band feel that their surroundings in this process will help give the album a great atmosphere
