Poison The Well To Go On Indefinite Hiatus
Miami, Florida's biggest metalcore act Poison the Well have announced via myspace that they, as a band, have decided to go on an indefinite hiatus.
The band commented by saying: "So, after twelve years of being a band, countless tours around the world and records being released, we have made the decision to take some time to explore other interests in our lives. We’ve all reached a point where we feel like we need to take a step back from the band and pursue other things. [Poison the Well] has been an all encompassing, full time thing for such a long period that this isn’t an easy thing to do. We want to thank everyone who has supported us in anyway, whether it be buying a record or a shirt, to the occasional robbery from time to time. Once again, thanks for everything and we couldn’t have done any of this without you."

i'm glad. i hate these screamo/metalcore bands staining the lil rock/metal scene from here (miami, fl). that's all we're even known for, screamo, metalcore, pop punk, rap/hip hop, raggaeton and marilyn manson. one that rlly deserves some attention is florida's own (and probably only) melodic death metal band, The Absence.

"The Opposite of December" helped redefine what could be 'heavy' for me...more than 10 years ago.
The album reminds me of being 19 everytime I listen to it. The major label debut had it's moments too. One of the few metalcore acts I have heard that didn't send me into immediate fits of laughter.

glad to see some absence fans. idk about the new album but yeah, it's taking forever to come out. but i still love listening to from your grave and riders of the plague, which was definitely a great direction forward. and there's not much of a death metal scene here, kuz it's more deathcore anyway.

Nothinghead: I Believe Enemy Unbound is coming out late this year or sometime in 2011. As we know their drummer was in a accident some time ago and I'm sure he's still trying to recuperate from it. Plus they have the guest lead guitar track to add and all that other recording stuff. Either way, Enemy Unbound will be absolutely Epic.

DEATH blooms & freak: i guess i'm just a lil bias since i don't rlly like that pure death metal stuff. nor thrash either (flinches with the knowledge at being stoned for saying that here) lol but i do love my melodeath tho, especially the scandinavian sound.

Same with me RememberMetal?...The first time I heard Opposite of December I was 19 and away in school. I don't think it came out of my stereo for 6 months after that. Occasionally I will still throw on Nerdy, or Slice Paper Wrist for a trip down memory lane. Great album, good band. Kind of disappointing.
