because im being extremely hardheaded about it oz, thats how i can say that! some bands should never change line-ups, although that is un-avoidable in certain situations. I just want to remember old SEP. and leave it at that! Yea, thats fkn retarded but o well!

Can't replace Max Cavalera...no matter how you look at it for me....and to be honest I'm not even a Sepultura/Soulfly fan at all.

Fair enough. I can see why people wouldn't want to check out Sepultura after Max. It'd be like replacing Phil Anselmo in Pantera, but personally, I still love Sepultura and I think Derrick makes really good use of the talent he has. I'll also go as far as to say that some of my favourite Sepultura material was with Derrick and that the new album was the best of 2009. I can see how people might be turned away also, by Green's more hardcore influenced vocal delivery. But I believe they at least deserve a listen before being slated. Moreover, Green has been in the band since 1997, so him and Max have pretty much spent the same time as each other as Sepultura band members. Another thing that I believe is that, since Soulfly has alot of detractors, if Max had stayed in the band then Sepultura would be criticised just as much as they are now, only since there's a different person in the lineup, it's easier to just blame them and move on (ala Corpsegrinder syndrome). To me, Sepultura will always be one of my favourite bands, with or without Max. I don't expect everyone to like Derrick era Seps, but at least give them a listen before deciding they suck.

I have no idea why every post on Sepultura devolves into this discussion within seconds. It's been nearly 15 years, let it go. It's like kicking off a Metallica post with "I liked them before Black album"... - no f***ing kidding.

Also, there seems to be a pretty big double standard with people dismissing bands like Metallica/Megadeth as selling out after the 80s, when Sepultura (along with FF) are pretty much responsible for nu-metal. Roots vs. Black album, Black album is 10x more metal.

roots is 10x better than the black album, it's a lot more diverse stylistically. that being said, i still listen to arise, beneath the remains, and chaos ad far more often.
as for derrick, i actually like him as the singer. he's got great stage presence and can pull off the classics incredibly well.

goddamn cynic...root versus sh!t black....like he who said...

there is NO fvcking comparison...black record was a rock record at best

give us all hardcores a goddamned break will ya?

oz-man may defend his love of the new crappy version of sepulnotura, but at least he makes great points about their supposed 'evolution' as well...

though yes, i have heard it... and i still think it SUCKS

i will ALWAYS stick to my perspective that the cav's should rightly take back what IS theirs and bring the real SEPULTURA back to the front

d*** kisser can go fvck himself

There were some cool shots of Kerry King's touring rack! Nice!

On Sepultura, the problem for me now is, now their vocalist sounds like a human being. And that's no good. There is only one Max Cavalera.

@TRASH TILL DEATH, I fell in love with Sepultura through Chaos AD and Beneath made the affair even stronger, but overall, I think "Roots" is the overal Sepultura masterpiece. I think it's got all that's good about Sepultura in one album.

So... when will Sepultura post some "post Dutch game" footage?
