The boycott, started by Korn and quickly joined by many others, is in direct protest to the enviromental tragedy taking place in the gulf of mexico.
Other note worthy bands that have joined the cause include:

This is such a difficult, complicated issue.
While I fully support the idea of the BP boycott, to me the problem here now is, the boycott will at worst damage the economy of many people who are simply doing their job and just happen to be somehow associated with BP (like the gas station owner who simply decided to make a deal with BP over Shell, Exxon or whoever).
It's not the BP suits who will somehow get punished here, it's the average every day worker, from the distribution center admin and management all the way through the truck drivers to the gas station staff.
I don't know.. I guess I'm just hoping that somehow BP will get fined big time and torn in the media for their actions, and hopefully at that point the BP workers have the window to make their move to other things, instead of being financially punished for just doing their jobs.

Take that korn haters....post 1....
All seriousness, its nice to see bands, decent bands go out and come together for what i think is a deserved cause and a statement...we all cant boycott oil forever but we can hit em hard in the wallet for a time or two and let em know us "little people" have a voice and some will

dont worry, actor Kevin Costner is on it. Surely, he will know what to do.....All i can say is that it's so sad that this has happened. many can say that they want this to happen, or that Obama has made a secret 20 billion dollar deal with BP that no one will ever hear about, it just sucks that we can come up with all kinds of extraordinary technology inventions, yet we can't figure out how to plug up a simple leak. i mean did you know that a calculator(today) has more power than the Apollo one back in the day?? we come so far in technology in the past 50 years, yet they just can't plug up a simple damn leak. what a waste! lets get Apple to come up with something.

BP workers Burn Sea Turtles Like Ocean Trash:this story is @ rense.com if you want to read it;it links to an L.A. Times story that shows even researchers&volunteer orgs.are being shooed away from saving sea turtles by BP;they don't want to try and save any more animals(rescue efforts were halted last Thursday-they were supposed to continue for 3 more weeks)-instead they are scooping up oil-soaked seaweed mats full of turtles, crabs, fish, small animals, ect.and Torching them out in the Gulf. This is a Crime, because sea turtles are Endangered; It's Illegal to Kill them this way,but BP is getting away w/it.I hope BP goes out of business,Heartless f***in' Bastards.Kudos to All the abovementioned celebs for having a conscience.

I doubt the aforementioned, seemingly morally superior bands would be feeling so smug if the rest of the world started boycotting stuff in answer to the environmental disasters caused at the hands of corporate America. Exxon Valdez, Texaco, Union Carbide. The list is long and nasty.

BP's ceo must be a dense bag of crumpets, it's been two months and they just keep scratching their butts. Let the people help, we can do that you know. But they'd rather sit on their a$$es and let the world rot and steam under tthesuffocating weight of several million gallons raw crude oil. Whatever BP, British Polluters. What'll happen is BP will be baught out and the little guys will get screwed as usual, the rich get richer, poor get poorer, and we all eat oil-drenched seafood at Red Lobster and mutate into bottomfeeding goats.

^Dude, uhhh lol, if you go to red lobster most of the fish there is not from those waters...except for shrimp and a couple others....unless your certain the shrimp comes from mexico then bon apetite...no shrimp or oysters for yours truly for a long while...
Nice to see tony hayward didnt miss his yachting race the other day....that guy should be sleeping down at the site on a nightly basis til this disaster if fully cleaned up and contained.....
