Finnish heavy metal outfit Children Of Bodom has announced that they have begun recording the demos for their next studio album. A message from bass player Henkka T. Blacksmith reads as follows:

"So yesterday we recorded some demos for the new stuff. Jaska's drums earlier, Alexi and me did our share yesterday. Roope will be doing today.

"It's exciting!

"Couple of more months and we will start recording for real. Can't really wait how the new shit sounds when it's actually all done. While recording we will hit the festivals, which is cool. We never left the studio like this, in the middle of recording process, so let's see how it affects, or if it affects at all.

"So Sziget is the first one, Budapest is so nice city, and the weather is always great that time of the year!

"Ankkarock is the last for us then. Hello Korso, my name is Torso!"

Excellent, i hope they put in some effort this time and don't throw together some tracks. Blooddrunk was much better than AYDY, but nowhere near Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, or Hatecrew Deathroll.

Agreed. I'm hopeful. Blooddrunk was a step into a better direction, lets see if it continues.

I liked AYDY when it came out and I thought Blooddrunk was horrible. I really hope this new album is more like Hatebreeder/FTR. Wishful thinking anyway.

Haa, going to Ankkarock! It's about 20min walk away from where I live anyway.

Hmm.. I hope the album will be better than the last 2 offerings. I felt there was a bit of failure in the quality control with both, Are You Dead yet? and especially with Blooddrunk.

It's weird that Blooddrunk was So average, as at least based on the interviews, Alexi is pretty f***ing dedicated to COB. It's his life, no question and the same goes for the rest of the guys as well, I'd say.

I guess Alexi will have to write the next album as he said in finnish press: renting a cabin in Lapland for 3-4weeks and going there with a guitar, laptop and x amount of booze.

Oh yes, RTB. The covers album... (what a pile of sh1t that was)

So, that's actually 3 strikes for COB now (Are You Dead Yet?, Blooddrunk, Skeletons In The Closet).

I hope Alex & co realise COB's nosediving and do something about it, and quick!

Wolf can you really count the covers album as a strike since it was just a fun thing to do and not entirely their own material.

IMO, the perfect Bodom album would mix the intricate keyboards and experimental stuff of Something Wild and Hatebreeder with the all-out Hate Crew Deathroll, with some industrial-typre stuff from AYDY. I'm like some of you guys, Blooddrunk sounded OK when it first came out, but today I listen to it even less than AYDY. Horns!

True Demise. Still, I heard it once and decided that I don't want it.
I thought AYDY was great half way through... but the it just gets really lame. Maybe I was a bit harsh saying that AYDY was a "strike" but certainly wasn't even a good COB album either. As for Blooddrunk... it's crap, in my opinion. Recycled riffs, no inspiration at all and COB sounds really tired on it.

Oh well, The next album, Let's hope for the best!!

AYDY was the first COB song/album i've listened to and thought it was good especially the title track but Hatebreeder and FTR are WAAAY better i must say as for Bloodrunk it sucks and I hope the new album is like Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper or Are You Dead Yet AT LEAST! Follow the Reaper to the point of No Return!
