Children Of Bodom To Enter The Studio This Summer

Finnish heavy metal outfit Children Of Bodom has announced that they will be entering the recording studio this summer to record a brand new studio album. A message from bass player Henkka T. Blacksmith reads as follows:
"It is great to have a new rehearsal space. We can rehearse whenever and as long as we want. And this is a new thing for us as a band. So making new songs is now really different than before.
"It's been really exciting, once again, to gather at the rehearsal space and start jamming the new ideas Alexi (Laiho) has in mind for. I'm really excited now, and looking forward everyday to get there again to see what's new this time.
"Soon we will jam some old songs too, since we have these three shows in Finland next month. It s been quite a long time since last live show, so that is a fresh thing to do also, the small Fenno-tour. And we've never played in Sotkamo area!!!
"We will enter the studio in the middle of next summer. And then we will take our time to track the stuff, then mix it and master it. Then the labels need their time to prepare the release... so unfortunately the release won't be this year, that's for sure. We will let you know as soon as we know the date.
"When the tracking is done, the rest of the summertime we will spend at some summer festivals in Europe. Check out our live section for those.
"And, we will put some footage, diary thingies, from the studio, that's for sure!"

Yeah the first three albums are the best but the rest are still good. Blooddrunk was okay, and yeah if the next album is just a repeat of that then I probably won't pick it up, I'll just download it like I downloaded Blooddrunk. Also, I really think Alexi should let Roope throw down some leads because that guy can shred, Alexi himself has cited him as an influence.

This is great news, hopefully they go back to making songs jam-packed with energy and creative risks. I hate AYDY and Blooddrunk because the songs were too structured. They didn't evolve into great tracks, these guys just need to play and let the music lead the way.

Lol at #12. As long as Alexi is alive, I can't picture there being a bad Bodom album. I still can't figure out why so many people hate on AYDY? That was the album that got me into Bodom and is still my favorite from them. Blooddrunk was a bit of a grower but now I love it. To #11, having songs that are structured is a good thing cuz then it saves them from being sloppy riff soup.

I'm with you guys on the topic of AYDY. Don't understand the hate on it at all. Blooddrunk wasn't great, easily their weakest album to date IMO, but still pretty good. Follow The Reaper was definately my favorite though. OH, and for whoever said they don't like the keyboards - you might enjoy (if not at least respect) it if you saw them live. He's simply amzing, sounds great live...and seeing the keyboardist and Alexi do solo battles with their instruments hooked up to strobing light shows is pretty intense.

A lot of people (myself included) dislike AYDY and Blooddrunk because they see these albums as half-assed and a regression in their sound. Sure, both albums had a few good songs, but there was a lot more filler compared to their previous four efforts. It just seems like they are just going through the motions, and don't have the desire or passion anymore to really bust a$$ and create a strong album again.

What the hell man, is everyone here on glue? First of all I'm just gonna say that I love all of Bodom's records, but for those of you who don't get why "Are You Dead Yet" and "Blooddrunk" get hated on by many true Bodom fans then I think you should re-think your sh** and take a very close listen to their first two releases, Something Wild and Hatebreeder, my two favorite albums by them.

I thought Blooddrunk was mediocre at best, aside from a couple cool songs I thought it was pretty much all filler, like every song cept the title track, Hellhounds On My Trail and Banned From Heaven. My point was that a few people here don't get why AYDY gets hated on, listen to Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper and tell me AYDY isn't kinda weak.

There's too many forgettable songs on Are You Dead Yet. It was by far their weakest. Blooddrunk seemed rushed and thrown together. Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, and Hate Crew Deathroll are 3 perfect COB albums. when introducing somebody new to their music, i pull from those albums.

Dude Bodom ditched their neo-classical sound almost 10 years ago now, really doubt they'll ever return to their old form. That being said I'm just hoping this album isn't as dull as Blooddrunk, ever notice how they said that album was gonna be more "thrashy" than previous efforts, aka - boring a$$ riffs with the same old melodies. Starting to loose faith in this band, they've lost that certain "spunk" which made them really great in my opinion.

If they lost the keyboards I'd like them alot more.
