Lamb of God Drummer Chris Adler Discusses Grammy Nomination

In a recent interview with MetalSucks, LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler discusses his band's recent Grammy nomination, touring with Metallica, not letting all the success go to his head, and how the band keeps things fresh and vital. An excerpt follows:

"Are you even planning to attend the ceremony, or do you watch it from home, or do you just not watch at all?

"Last time we did, all of us attended except for Randy [Blythe, vocalist]. He had his own little personal boycott of it in the same vein that we’re talking about – thinking that it’s kind of a joke. This time, I think three of us are attending. Mark [Morton, guitarist] and Randy are staying at home. Randy, out of some personal protest, is not attending. I did attend the first time, and I am attending this time. It’s not that I’m going and thinking that we’re going to win. In fact, I’m fairly certain that we’re not. I think that there are several bands on the list that definitely deserve to win. For me, the after-parties and the show itself are just crazy. It’s so out of my world. I’m just this kid from Virginia that grew up listening to metal. Last time I went to the Grammys, I ended up at a party with “Weird Al” Yankovic and Smokey Robinson. Paris Hilton was there, Dave Grohl was there, and I’m looking around like, “How the fuck did I get in here?” [laughs]

"Do they seat you with the other metal nominees so at least you’re close to the Slayer dudes and the Megadeth dudes and some of the guys you know?

"Yeah. Well, the last time they did. We all kind of sat together and jeered each other on. At this point, we all know each other fairly well. It’s a pretty cool little community there."

Nobody asked for your opinion. Nobody needs to read your opinion, Bill. Keep it to yourself.

After everything Lamb of God has been through and put up with, they deffenitly, without a doubt, deserve a grammy.

Lamb of God definitely doesn't need a Grammy. They've proven themselves plenty already. But then again, I'm still pulling for them to win. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Lamb of God is the Pantera of this era. Their sh** is real, honest, and they haven't sold out one bit. If either them or Megadeth doesn't win, then it just proves how dumb the Grammys are. STAY METAL MY FRIENDS!

Don't get mad, but this is my opinion. I just really think LOG are overrated. I always try to give them repeated tries, but their songs our so predictable and formulaic to me.....sorry. Im glad they are in the category though, because when it comes to the grammy's, who knows what crackpot they are gonna put in there. At least they are a metal group.

Lamb of God is amazing. Those of you talking sh** don't know a damn thing about metal, all you care for is Dethklok, blah blah any other band trying to be Cannibal Corpse. After all their hard work and bad a$$ albums like Ashes, Sacrement, and especially Wrath, they definitely deserve to be there along Slayer and Megadeth. I agree with metal123, they're a modern day Pantera.

I'd rather them get the grammy than megadeth, but with all honesty, this is metal. We don't need the mainstream music industry to give itsself a pat on the back. Metal is about giving a finger to the music industry. I hope if LoG wins(if only Randy could be there, he could verbally b****slap the Grammys) they give the grammys a punch in the face.
The mainstream music industry is the most pathetic and parasitic thing I've ever set eyes on. Metal doesn't need anything to do with it

I'm with Buffalo Bill and MetalRapture. Despite that good on them for partially boycotting the whole thing.

Funny how Dave Mustaine wants a Grammy so bad but all the other metal bands just know it's a joke. It would be great to have a band berate the process in the acceptance speech.

i find it to be f***ing bullsh** that LoG didn't win but hey, like my fellow metalhead drummer, metalheaddrummer, said, metal is the middle f***ing finger to the mainstream music industry and neither needs to b apart of each other. like i said before, i f***ing canNOT wait to go see LoG at mayhem. also the grammy's is bullsh** and a f***ing joke, only good thing that happened last nite were pink's kool naked performance, beyonce's legs, miley cyrus starting to look hott (i can't wait for her to get slutty), lady gaga winning best dance album, and taylor swift winning album of the year!! \m/
