Blaze Bayley Band Attacked In Agrino, Greece

In a recent update, former Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane vocalist Blaze Bayley has revealed that his solo band was recently harassed and attacked after performing a concert in Agrino, Greece. Two men reportedly hit a member of the band's entourage with their scooter before following them back to their van and throwing a brick through their window. An account from Bayley himself reads as follows:

"Agrinio was crazy - a really intimate packed-out gig with plenty of crazy fans and the odd crowd-surfer.

"After the fantastic gig we stopped on the way back to the hotel at a late-night pie shop. I was talking to support act Fury UK's manager when two drugged-up youths on a scooter drove towards him.

"I grabbed him out of the way so he wasn't hurt, just dazed. The scooter boys seemed to think it was our fault - but we'd been standing at the side of the road and they were coming at us at 30 miles an hour.

"It didn't stop there - they followed our van, and at traffic lights the weedy-looking one on the back managed to throw a large brick, shattering the side window and narrowly missing our manager. Lucky for us, no one was seriously hurt. The cowards ran away before we could clobber them. It was a horrible end to a great night.

"Now all the money from the gig goes towards replacing the van window. It hasn't put me off Greece - but I never thought pies would be so dangerous."

I agree, Oz. Bayley definitely deserves his fame, instead of living in the shadow of Maiden. Amazing singer and a frontman

Yeah, I saw his band in May (see link to my review on the right) and they were quality. Bayley himself just gets so much sh** it's unreal. Just look at the news archive and it's real saddening.

I know, Oz. The whole attitude towards him seems to be "oh that ex-Iron maiden loser". Sad

WOLF7 and Oz, couldn't agree more. Blaze is a great vocalist, it's a pity everyone thinks of him in terms of Maiden. And X Factor is certainly not a weak album in any case.

Seeing him in February, should be great - after all, you can't be in maiden for even a short time without pciking up some of their amazing stage prescence.

I really liked some of the stuff Blaze did with Maiden. Granted his voice was not ideal for the Bruce era stuff, but is was great on the songs he did new with the band.

I love his voice on the "B" side version they did of Doctor Doctor
