We, The Undersigned Posts New Canadian Tour Road Report
We, The Undersigned have issued the following road report from their Canadian tour:
"November 7th – Knights of Columbus Hall – Ottawa/Vanier, ON. Tonight we find ourselves in a posh-y suburb of Ottawa known as Vanier. This is most assuredly our first time being in this place and I must say, we had quite the rock show! These halls only have tolerable sound if there’s enough bodies to absorb it. Luckily the 60-70 kids that showed up did the trick and moshed their faces off!
"Strangely we were offered a sponsorship deal with a local restaurant called 'Best Pizza' while we ate our supper. We’re not sure what they thought we could offer them, or vice versa, but none the less it gave us a laugh. I’ll wear their t-shirt for a couple free meals a year in Vanier! Mmmm...shwarma...
"One of the standout bands of the evening was the promoters' 'Pressure Makes Diamonds.' Another young band that has loads of potential as they grow into their 20`s at making some great music.
"Apparently it's cool to serve underage kids booze in Vanier because the Legion's old and creepy (they're always old and creepy) was serving the kids and they were passing out all night. It was a tad unsettling, I must say... And so begins the 2 day trek to Thunder Bay where we play back to back shows with our best friends in Endast (Montreal), Ninjaspy (Van), and our new friends Faceless Hulk (Thunder Bay). God Bless Northern Ontario and it's epic massiveness...
"November 9th – Black Pirates Pub – Thunder Bay, ON. Woot! Woot! Woot! Anyone who’s played or seen a show at the Black Pirate knows that it’s a pretty kick ass bar(in large part to their fantastic sound man, cheers to you man...I hope you read this - Jai). Thunder Bay in general is a different kind of place (perhaps due to the soul-sucking casino in the heart of the downtown, incessantly draining 24-7). And neither of the McDick’s have free Wifi, yet all others in Canada do. What’s up with that?
"The TB show-goers come in craving loud crazy music and we’re more than happy to deliver the 'package'. Probably the one place (aside from Sussex, NB) that consistently has a beautifully explosive mosh pit. It helps that the shows are wet-dry so we’ve got 15 year old's right up to 55 year old's. I love that Rickard’s beer is domestic (ie:cheap) out here, I’ve been taking full advantage of that. And the only Moosehead I see is the green bottle, which happens to be my fav too. But enough about beer...
"Also sharing the stage with us and Ninjaspy tonight was Endast and local crazies Faceless Hulk (myspaces below) so we definitely stoked to be crossing tour paths with these boys. If you haven’t heard of Endast yet, don’t delay and get on that myspace now! This was the first time I’ve seen Faceless Hulk and it was bat-shit cool. Their dropped tuned guitars and maddening vocals reminded me of how much I missed The Daisy Anthesis (Saint John). As expected, wicked show.
"Tomorrow we play with all the same bands down the street at Kilroy’s, a venue reminiscent of Moncton, NB’s 'Manhattan' club. Very large with a great sound system. A Monday and/or Tuesday has never been so exciting in Thunder Bay until now.
"These two Thunder Bay bills are special for us because these bands are what we think is the next big thing in Canadian music. We’re all mixing different styles and genres, we come from different sides of the country, and yet having no trouble sharing the stage because everyone’s striving for the same thing, originality, sincerity, and good times. I hope we share as many stages as humanly possible with these bands in the future."
