Shadows Fall Discusses New Album Details Via Own Record Label
Details for the long awaited new record from Shadows Fall have recently been disclosed. With regards to some of the new music for the band’s Fall 2009 release, singer Brian Fair says, “There are songs based on pure aggression and chaos, like 'My Demise' and 'Embracing Annihilation,' that showcase the thrash metal and melodic death metal influences that have been the bedrock of the Shadows Fall sound. There's tons of shredding guitar leads, double bass drum insanity and full on screaming.”
As previously announced, Shadows Fall will be releasing their Fall 2009 release on their own label in collaboration with Warner Brothers’ Independent Label Group, Ferret Music and ChannelZERO entertainment. The band have a handful of upcoming dates which are noted below, including the triumphant return of Shadows Fall to New Jersey when they perform in support to KORN and an upcoming appearance at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee.
Upcoming Shadow's Fall Tour Dates:

What drives the weak is their best song? I beg to differ my good sir lol
Destroyer of Senses is instantly my favorite, but as for best song, I would be leaning towards "The Light that Blinds". They have entire songs based off of indiviual riffs within that song scattered throughout their albums. "Power of I and I" is the most blatant recycled song off one of the more prominent pieces within LTB. no to say I diont enjoy every one of these songs that have been metioned, I'm just saying, Light that blinds had everything.
lead-up melody, constant riff changes, their signature sound personified into a single song so succinctly it's almost rediculous.
but, then again, as always; to each their own haha :)
I'm lookin forward to this rawer, angrier Shadows fall record they keep purporting. the last one was solid, but it was boring as hell to me when I had all the rest of their music at my disposal to listen to instead. I want something that will blow my mind, but one can only ask for so much before one sounds self-centered and unconcerned for the band's personal progression. I just hope they continue to make stuff I like. lol

the new avatars great.
"Destroyer of Senses" has to be one of my favorite songs about alcohol. I remember when I first heard "Idle Hands" I broke out in goosebumps that refused to go away..."Thoughts Without Words" is probably my favorite, it has some of everything that makes the band great.
Those are all from "The Art of Balance", but I think "The War Within" is their most well-rounded and consistent album. "Of One Blood" has some classics but the album is missing some x-factor I can't place. "Fallout" had some very strong moments for an odds and ends. "Threads" I found to be decent enough, nothing -bad- but fewer jaw-droppers and generally less p***ed.
Like F_A_N, I want this album to restore my faith in the band but I feel greedy asking for "more, more, more" appease me, f*** other palates...
Now Playing: Mumakil - "The Eye of Wrath"

Rm? lol thanks. I felt bored with my random offensive avatar, so i went out and got a new random offensive avatar. Just to shake things up a bit.
I find it amusing that the term "Destroyer of Senses" is always used as an alcohol reference. I remember listening to 11th hour(lamb of god) and wondering whether shadows fall ripped off Lamb of god's lyrics, or if it was the other way around. little did I realize, the subject matter was the same, and the term was a common one lol
How are mumakil by the way? I'm looking for good death/grind or straight up decent grindcore right now, and someone pointed me to them recently. So, seeing as how you're listening to them and all, who better to ask for an opinion? I mean, obviously YOU like them, but what can I compare them to for my own personal referential mindset before I go listen to them?

heh, sorry it took me awhile to find this F_A_N
I feel like I've gotten to know your taste over the last couple years and I would strongly suggest at least listening to some samples....My reviews of "Behold the Failure" and "Customized Warfare" can be found in the review section if you want some point by point info.
If you like Origin, Pig Destroyer, and Cephalic Carnage (as your profile states) then I can't think of a better album released this year so far...Agoraphobic Nosebleed pending...
On topic, I'd really like to hear/see a surprise triumphant return from Shadows Fall this year.
Now Playing: Year of No Light - "Prosodia"

I'm really looking forward to this. I feel like a few albums I was looking forward to haven't clicked with me the way I hoped, so I'm hopeful when a long-time favorite like SF has something coming. Even though the last album was pretty soft in spots, I really loved a few of the tracks enough to play the hell out of them.
