70000 Tons of Metal - The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise

"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Devildriver Guitarist Posts Album Update

Devildriver guitarist Jeff Kendrick has posted the following report online: "Hey guys, I must say that the record is turning out better than I had ever imagined. The tones, performance and overall vibe has been great! I was not so sure about recording in LA, but so far everything has been fucking awesome and we are very blessed and pleased to have Logan Mader producing. In particular, I cannot wait for everyone to hear the guitar tone. WOW! See you guys soon.

Bassist Jon Miller also checked in with the following:

"As of February 1st, I have finished my bass and guitar parts for the fourth DevilDriver studio album. I could not be happier with how well things have gone thus far in regards to the tones of the guitars, bass and drums but especially the vocals. Not only is this the best music we have written but it is Dez's best vocal performance... hands down. Logan Mader is an absolute pleasure to work with. He has brought the best out in all of the members in DD. This album will not disappoint... in fact, it may hurt you."

So many bands say that, but for once, i halfway believe it for this band; so far, they've completely delivered a better product with each album, and I expect nothing less of the next one. the last album screamed room for progression.

I've loved watching DevilDriver grow over the years. They've become better and better with each passing album. The difference between "The Last Kind Words" and their first cd is amazing. I can't wait to see how they've grown on this album.

Improved guitar tone and vocals? I didn't really find flaws with Last Kind Words so I don't know how they could improve. Each record they have improved so much it has been stupid. If this is anything like what they say, I am going to have to attempt to push out Fury of Our Maker's hand out of my rotation which still includes Last Kind Words.

Some bands benefit from basement/crypt fidelity and and directionless song structure, others from a polished sound and hooks--Devil Driver is one of the latter...I actually like Fury more than Last Kind Words, mostly because of how surprised I was by it.

Now Playing: Origin - "The Beyond Within"
