Cryptopsy Guitarist Alex Auburn Quits

After ten years with the band, guitarist Alex Auburn has announced that he will be leaving Cryptopsy. A statement from Auburn reads as follows:

"I am announcing my departure of the band Cryptosy. There are many reasons why I must leave the band, and this has been going on for a while now, so I am quitting. The band and I believe it is better for me to go, so I am moving forward. I want to thank the guys in Cryptopsy for an adventurous and crazy 10 years. It’s been a great ride. I will especially miss the fans a great deal and i want to thank all of you for you’re awesome support through out those years. Right now I need to take a break for a few months to reflect on my life and my future in music. As far as music goes, I might start my own band next summer but i don’t know yet. In the mean time I am open to good offers and to join other forces."

The gurgling of a sinking titan that is Cryptopsy - Jon Levasseur was always the true Cryptopsy guitarist anyway. I hope Langlois leaves too because he used to shine.

Em, I'd say big difference, because I like deathcore, but I don't agree with Cryptopsy going deathcore. They had a substantial fanbase. I get the "creative growth" but, I guess I feel Cryptopsy still had places to go without genre-jumping. Oh well.

I can understand Alex's decision.....it must've been hard for him to take all the pressure from lots of people since And then you'll beg in 2000 after Jon's departure. I actually feel bad for him just by listening to Once Was Not that he really tries to do something innovative and pull off as much as Jon does.......good luck to him, he's still very young!
And finally Flo can take over everything lol.......

Yeah actually my first statement was a bit off - he did a good job on Once Were Not, there were some classic Cryptopsy riffs on that album.

once was not was a benchmark in complicated drumming, its f***ing awsome. and the only thing levassure wrote for once was not was luminium (the intro track). i really liked once was not coz it was like a progressive return to thier original sound. then they f***ed it up and went deathcore. they really really suck now. they just grabed onto something popular and raped it with sh**ness. the only thing good that could possibly hapen to cryptopsy now is they all get cancer.
