A Few Details Revealed For Ozzfest 2009

MTV News recently spoke with Sharon Osbourne, the wife and manager of metal god Ozzy Osbourne, where they asked her a few questions about Ozzfest 2009. When asked if Ozzfest will be a free concert again, she replied: "No, don't you know there's a depression going on? Are you mad? We're going back to what we originally were. We've given the real good fans a free show for one time and now it's back to business as usual."

She also would not confirm any acts for the festival but son Jack Osbourne suggested that Ozzy would return to the festival's lineup.

By the way, Bruce d***inson started all the crap between him and Sharon. She threw eggs at an employee. He was working for her. It just shows that you shouldn't talk sh** about the boss's husband if you don't want to be egged. LOL

Alec29- They still did not give her the right to ruin the show for the thousands of Maiden fans who were there. i was at the show and I was there for one band and one band alone- Maiden!
If she had a problem with bruce, she should have spoke with him about. Or, if she was going to resort to such unprofessional behavior, should have egged BRUCE and left the rest of the band out of it. Has anyone seen the list of bands that were asked to headline in 2006 that told Sharon to go get f***ed? NO ONE respected that sh**.

You are all assuming that Bruce was an innocent in that situation. An incorrect assumption I might add. You are correct that two wrongs don't make a right but don't just lay it all at one sides feet.

Focus, what could justify Bruce and Maiden f***ing with the godfather of all metal??

It's absolutely hillarious to see how "fans" of Ozzy disrespect his wife. While she may not be a fan favorite, no one can take away the fact that Sharon makes tons of money for Ozzy. Ozzy has stated in multiple interviews that she is the only reason he hasn't lost evrything he's got cuz he's not a financial person. If I was the promoter, I'd really give serious consideration to a fan request that went like this , "SO IT BETTER BECOME A TOURING GIG AGAIN INSTEAD OF A "Texas-only" EVENT YOU SKANKY b****! " NOT!!! Those types of people just make the rest of the metal community sound ignorant.

It's real easy to bash someone if they don't cater to your every whim isn't it??

I will probably go depending on the line up. Regardless of what you think about Sharon as a person, she still has the ability to bring the up and comming's and the here and now's (I hope) and offer it up at a reasonable price. I just wish the venues would make the beer reasonably priced as well. I can't afford to get all blowed up at concerts anymore.

Diamond Oz just summed up pretty much my entire opinion about that woman, although a bit more eloquent than i generally like to profess lol. thanks man.

the reason I have a problem with this woman is thus: DURING the dallas Ozzfest, she said ozzfest would return to a touring gig. AFTER the dallas Ozzfest, she said(in between counting the money they made from it) that it would be the same thing as last year, a one-city event, and maybe a few other select dates. So she lied. I hate liars. Ozzfest is a major event for me, big-concert-experience and all, so this is kindof offensive to me. this year I was saved with the Slipknot mayhem concert, but i don't think I could sit through that level of mediocrity again next year, I need Ozzfest, and I bring about thirty other people every year who are p***ed at this too, so I'm sure i'm not the only person out there who f***in hates this lady for similar reasons...

^ummm...Cynic, so all those people criticizing Metallica are illogical?

and besides, if lollapalooza hadn't denied Ozzy in the first place, then there would be no Ozzfest. If Black sabbath hadn't kicked out Ozzy in the first place, there would be no Ozzfest, so who cares about her contribution to it. For all we know, it could have happened without her, it just so happens she took on the responsibilities of setting it up when the idea came about, so somebody else didn't have to.

In fact, on another tack altogether, if Ozzfest hadn't practicallt monopolized on the American Metal festival scene, we might actually have some decent bands performing on bills these days. SOTU wouldn't have gotten cancelled, the Summer Slaughter tour would get more sponsorship, and things like the slipknot concert mayhem event wouldn't be just a quick substitute for an absent ozzfest, theymight have ended up as meaningful festivals of their own en masse.

So the statement, on my part remains; f*** this b****, she's a liar and a commercial whore.

f*** yes they are - criticizing the music for being rubbish is different from criticizing the musicians for not being able to produce what they once could.

Wait, so before you were complaining about Ozzfest not happening, now your complaining that it monopolized the American festival scene? Which is it? You can't have it both ways.

And the lying? You should be disappointed that things couldn't work out the way you wanted to, you can't blame it on her. And as for making money, I'm sorry - is there something wrong with making money? Just because she's in a position to organize a free/touring festival (disallowing the fact that that could put her in financial danger) doesn't mean she's obliged to - What does she owe you?

I disagree. I think it is the fans that make Ozzy and Sauron all their money. Without us, they would rely strictly on relaity TV (which I hear they are returning to). No wonder Ozzfest is coming back, LOL. The point is, whatever problems she had with Bruce should not have been addressed in front of 45,000-50,000 people, when half (at least) came there just for Maiden. I think if you had been at the show, your opinion of the situation would been different. I thnk the only bands still willing to work for Sauron are the ones that played this year's Texas Ozzfest- Hell Yeah, Shadows Fall, Cavalera Conspiracy, Serj Tankian, etc.
And besides, there is not a snowballs chance in hell ANY future Ozzfest can top this year's Metal Masters Tour.

Bruno, you should change your screen name to "The Great Kreskin". It must be wonderful being able to determine who somebody else came to see at a show. Combine that with the fact that you can't possibly know all "45,000-50,000" people and it becomes even more incredible. I went to Ozzfest '07? Which act did I go to see??? Come on, you can tell me. My opinion will not change. Bruce started it and Sharon ended it. I would also bet that alot of those 45-50 thousand "fans" were very amused by the whole thing as I would have been. You may also be surprised at how many bands DO want to play on the Ozzfest stages......unless you've been named spokesman for them all.

Blind Greed- Exactly brother!
Alex29- It is not that hard to figure out that a substantial amound of people went to Ozzfest 2005 to see Maiden by the simply fact that half the crowd left after Maiden's set! Maybe not everyone was not there JUST for Maiden, but still Sabbath played to a smaller crowd after the fact (and I love Black Sabbath, Ozzy and Dio versions).
You probably did not hear what happened to Sauron when he came on stage between Maiden & Sabbath's set . She got onstage with a microphone, pretending to apologize, saying something like, "I would like to thank Iron Maiden and crew for coming out, except for the lead singer Bruce d***inson, he is a real prick." I was on the lawn, and even from there I could see a tidal wave probably eight feet tall of beer, spit, and God knows what else completely drench Sauron, as well as the largest collective "BOO" that I have ever heard in my life. She slammed the mike down, soaking wet, and stomped offstage. Seconds after that, thousands of people are making a stampede for the exits. Her plan backfired big time.

Freefest was doomed to failure anyway. Yes, on paper it was great to see actual metal bands be on the bill for free (Nile, Behemoth, Chthonic and the like), but those good bands really got the short end of it. And I'm not surprised Sharon pulled this at all. Eventually it had to be about money...And oh yeah, that little catch on how to get free tickets "Buy the new Ozzy album in all its mediocrity." (I still think she wrote his lyrics for him in that album).

I haven't read every comment, but have this to say. Sharron, is human, just like the rest of us. I will NEVER conduln what she did to Maiden, but then again I haven't all the details. Who knows? Maybe they did try to settle it like adults, and Bruce was having the words she said go in one ear and out the other, then Sharrons Aunt Flow (or menapause kicked into hig gear?) happened to come to town and all went ugly from there? Who truly knows? I do, however know that had someone been talking sh** about my man, would not take it laying down, but would have beat the crap out of them. Not throw eggs. I know Sharron is greedy and manipulative. Thatabout her I don't dig. She got Ozzy back on stage and got him sucessful. That couldn't be an easy task.

I gotta admit, I would also put my money on Zakk. The only way Bruce could beat him is by taking the fight into late rounds, trying to see who has more stamina. If he tried to tire out Zakk he has a chance, but Bruce would take a pounding in the process. If Bruce could make it to the sixth round, he's gotta shot at taking the fight!

The biggest problem with Ozzfest is the $7-9 beers. So bring a cooler and drink a couple in the parking lot.
