What are you talking about. This album blows. Every song sounds the same, and contains sh**ty breakdowns. Man I can't wait till metalcore dies.
This band used to be ok at best, same with shadows fall and killswitch. The whole mass metalcore sh** is over, and I'm glad. I live in boston and I still hate these bands. The only good band we have now is Converge, and even they take a specific taste in music

Unearth is fukking great!!! . Trevor Phipps hasn't pussied out on the singing.
KSE and shadows fall could maybe take a lesson from Unearth on how to keep it heavy,
Especially Adam D.
Unearth are the best metalcore band going.

It's just funny how in metal everything has to stay underground. I mean when a metal sub genre gets popular , we start to hate it because it is popular within the metal community. We all want to be the only one to like it or what ? We are funny people. I like metal and I don't care how you call the sub genre. I listen to it and I like it or I don't. And in this case I like it a lot

I agree with you 100%, Red. I've been noticing this "trend" for quite some time.

Concerning the whole "everybody hates metalcore thing":

I think what happens when a subgenre gets popular, is that even the sh**ty bands in the genre that normally wouldn't get noticed get promoted by record companies and etc because they think that's whats selling so they shove as much of it down our throats a possible, so people get a bad impression of the entire brand of music.

In turn, the newer metlacore bands listen to that crap, get influenced by it, and then themselves create even sh**tier music. The reason most underground metal stays good through the years(for the most part anyway) is that you have to actually LOOK for the music, so you end up only finding the creme de la creme, and so only the good bands get the amount of recognition that the sh**tiest aminsteam metal does.

There IS good metalcore ou there. all you have to fdo is look for it. Bleeding Through and Himsa come immediatly to mind. Chimaira too. This band Unearth is really good, but I can see why people call it generic, but that's mostly because these guys were some of the forefather's of the modern metalcore scene, so they pretty much set the way the music is supposed to sound, thusly, people think they're generic. :p

I guess I've never really analyzed why that is, but I suppose that may be true, F.A.N. I don't hate metalcore, but I've noticed a lot of people do. Perhaps that's (^) why.. overexposure to sh*tty music.

I'd really have to disagree on the generic comment. This album calls to mind a lot of the old gothenburg days and really shreds, and the breakdowns are more unique than the last album. Metalcore has been entirely too influential to die outright. Where as Nu-metal was a phase, it never really served as inspiration for anything except for the downfall of many once respectable Swedish and Finnish bands.
