A fan maybe but not enoguh to be anything noteworty I am willing to bet... every musician's favorite bands usually influence their sound in some way and I don't really see Metallica in Nirvana in any way, then again I havn't heard those unreleased Nirvana demo tapes and all that Courtney Love sold before anyone had a chance to turn them into a CD for the masses. And post 3, you gotta admit that Hammet is way better of a guitarist than Cobain was or could ever have been (Not knockin the guy though, sometimes simplicity works the best, look at all the famous blues artists).

It's funny how everyone assumes Kurt and co. weren't into metal. They were, but they were also musically open minded, which is more than I could personally say about most metal fans...
AND they didn't feel the need to f***ing brag about it, either. They did what they did, and they did it WELL in my opinion.

^Rather than "that crap they call music," think of it as that music you call crap. Music is music, in all it's forms, for better or worse. Whether you like it or not does not change what it is. Just because a dog doesn't like a cat, doesn't mean the cat's not a cat. In fact, it's probably more reason to assume that it IS a cat.

I agree with you, ZT, on posts 10 and 11. I like Nirvana.. certainly not as much as Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, etc etc.. but I like them. And the fact remains that they helped popularize the grunge scene, which helped bring about a much needed end to hair metal (even though the hair metal scene was slowly suffocating itself anyway).

I hate Nirvana. I really wish people would stop talking about them. It's not like their music is going to transcend any boundaries or anything. Just let it go. Nirvana'a 15 minutes have been up for some time now, and I really think people should stop giving them so much credit. I'm sick of hearing so much about someone who did so little. Talk about Sublime instead. f*** Kurt Cobain. f***ing commits suicide and abandons his daughter with a f***ing dopesick sexual-assalut victim lookalike. What a goddamn wimp. I wish he could come back so he could shoot himself again.

Every metalhead here who says Nirvana sucks because they weren't metal are closed-minded a$$holes. I'm a gigantic Black Metal fan and I love Nirvana! They're musical and creative and did what they wanted to! I think it's a shame Courtney Love killed Kurt, that man was a genius!

Nirvana sucked. To say they had THREE good songs is pushing it.
metldrummer2112, how was Nirvana creative? Please explain, because I'm DYING to hear this. You're a f***ing metal drummer and you shouldn't be sucking the c*** of one of the lousiest musicians to ever walk the face of the earth.

People have every right to like what they want and to bag what they want, if the world wasnt so critical then it would become pretty boring pretty quick.
I personally like Nirvana, I got into them when I was young and they hold a memory of things i used to do back then and how free my life was before entering the real world. they represent a cool time in my life as does alot of music of different styles.
Plus i dont really limit my choice of music, as you grow older you can either stick to your true black metal or hardcorecrossovercore stuff or whatever it is and then only have that to talk about which gets boring pretty quick when everyone else is chilled enough to be into all different sorts of things.
Listening to all sorts of styles of music doesnt make you any less of a person or fan ect infact it actually means youre a little more open minded that there is some cool stuff out there. You can stick to whatever you like the most I dont care, it just seems to be a shame when theres so much cool and good music out there. Why would you limit yourself to one style? wouldnt you run out eventually? Or just start coming across the same thing over and over again?
For anyone who bags other people for being open minded no matter what they listen to, I think its a shame because why do you really care when its probably someone youve never met or will ever meet, do you really need to do that to make yourself feel better?
Nirvana obviously did somthing right no matter who their audience was. Like them or not they are in the history books and are loved by more people than hated. well id say theres more people who dont even know who they are than people who hate or love them.
G'Nite people!

Its true i can only listen to heavy music for so long, Queen comes close. But i just become lazy and shut in,lol. And i never liked Nirvana, but i think bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam were just as good if not better. I could never dig grunge that much because i was obsessed with CFH, but i got to admit that Alice in Chains is dam good band.

Hahahahahahaha, that was a piece of work. I was not so surprised when they announced that Layne died. I was surprised that he made it for so long with that freaking drug addiction. And I still imagine all the things they could have done if he decided to get clean. but he made it pretty clear from the get go that he was an addict and that he didn't want to be cured of it. Still, he was a great singer that nobody can duplicate. He the way he and Jerry Cantrell sang together was so eerie but beautiful at the same time.
And I used to dislike MTV unplugged until I heard AIC's performance and I bought the album. one of the last shows Layne did. It was great but also painful because you could see he was in a bad shape. His skin was greyish, his eyes hollow and his teeth all grinded...

Kurt Cobain was a Metallica fan?! No Way!!!!
Does this f***ing matter? I love Iron Maiden, Queen, NWA, and Meshuggah, but nothing I produce musically sounds anything like them. And besides, I don't think Bruce d***inson would appreciate being called an influence for a band(mine) with a song called "If I were Jesus...."
I really didn't wonder at all if he was a fan, I mean, who DIDN'T listen to Metallica in the 90's?
