Slayer was direct support for slipknot 8 years ago on the Tattoo the Earth tour. So was Sevendust and Sepultura....great tour by the way. there were a lot of good bands and Slipknot headlined with one album out...all about album sales.

I saw Slipknot two months ago and they were the worst live show i've ever seen. I saw Apocaliptica back in May and they were awesome. So, to answer your questions: Yes they shred (all four cellos). Yes their drummer is awesome and more consistent than Jordy was when I saw him. And yes they were more metal than Slipknot. Slipknot is merely a cheap immatation of Mushroomhead. Corey could learn a lot from Jeffrey Nothing (like how to sing without blowing out his voice), and Mick and Jim could learn a lot from Gravy (like how to put on a show instead of just standing there behind their instruments).

They're crap now. I will give props to Jordison because he is a badass, but even he's not into the new stuff. You can tell by the way he just sort of goes through the motions live now.
