Karnivool In Pre-Production On Sophomore Album

Band Photo: Karnivool (?)
Karnivool are currently locked away in a studio in Perth, Australia completing pre-production on the follow-up to their outstanding debut album, "Themata." A journal update from the band on the matter states:
"The 2nd album is shaping up to be a gem. You may have realised by now that we don't write albums very quickly, but we don't like to do things by halves. We are about to lock the doors of our comfy little studio which sits among the serene surrounds of the industrial hussle and bussle of Osborne Park where we will be entering the 'preproduction' stage. Joining us once again on the start of our excellent adventure is our good friend Forrester Savell. In the next two weeks we will be finishing tracks, tying up loose ends, chopping things up and sticking them together again, applying the lacquer where necessary, or taking to it with blunt objects where necessary. All in all, making the sure everything is exactly how we like it before we begin the real tracking process within the coming weeks. Once again, thanks for your patience and support. In the meantime here's a little video of what we've been up to recently. We will be posting videos and blogging on a regular basis throughout the pre-production and recording period, check back soon.
"In other news....Karnivool are amongst the first bunch of bands announced for the 2008 Homebake Festival. The lineup includes Crowded House, You Am I, The Vines, and shitloads more... This will take place at Domain Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney City on Saturday December 6. Tickets go on sale 9:00am Monday August 18th. Check www.homebake.com.au or www.myspace.com/homebake for more details."
Karnivool's new record is set to drop in 2009.
Here's a short video update/blog from the new album as well:

ewwww, I'm really hoping you're joking? Hilltop Hoods are INCREDIBLY overrated, it seems to me that people jump on their bandwagon just coz they're not from the US... They're bad at rapping, and the music itself is boring as f***! Karnivool aren't anything much in my eyes, but they're a THOUSAND times more listenable than that piece of sh** hip-hop group!

hilltop hoods eh...that group certainly deserves to mentioned on a METAL SITE!!!
i wouldn't really consider karnivool "metal" (what are they?) but they're still pretty rad. i only listen to them every now and then but that's enough to say that i like them. psythe you're so right on, hilltop hoods are one of the most overrated aussie acts out there, them and silverchair, and powderfinger, and most aussie music acts these days...i used to go to the same high school that the hilltop hoods went to, and its surprising how many people don't actually like them. but then again its not so surprising as they suck monkey testicles.

^(shrugs) It's all personal taste. I don't like them, but good on yuh for supporting an Aussie act :)
Karnivool... I'd say prog-rock. Something along those kind of lines. They're not metal, though, that's certain. But again, it's good to support an Aussie act, simply because we don't have too many big-name bands out there.
I actually like Powderfinger, and Silverchair's first couple of records were brilliant, man! I almost threw up when they brought out Diorama, though.
Now Playing: Hedpe - "Jesus (of Nazareth)"

The Red Shore and Psycroptic are mad. Carpathian are decent but nothing special, still getting around to hearing 50 Lions and Mourning Tide. Sun Tzu I don't mind at all :)
I recommend you check out Synthetic Breed, they're from Brisbane, I think. Killer stuff. Alarum are waaaaaaay up there on my list, man! Black Majesty, Sydonia, Double Dragon, The Eternal, Self | Is A Seed, Dead Letter Circus, Empyrean, there's a lot of good stuff out there, it's just a matter of taste and how willing you are to search for it, hahah.
And John Butler Trio, too, even if they aren't metal :)
Now Playing: Vivaldi - "Summer"

I like Break Even, but last time I saw them they sucked. Dunno what it was, just seemed like theydidn't care anymore. Ever listened to Extorted? They are good. Dunno about Blood Duster, saw em with Slayer and they seemed like a bunch of knobs. f***..I'm Dead rule! Or Robotosaurus
