Napalm Death Enters The Studio

Legendary Brummie godfathers of grindcore Napalm Death have entered the studio to record the follow up album to 2006's "Smear Campaign."

Vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway says: “As always, when trying to decide when we should enter the studio, we threw a dart at a dartboard and, sadly, for all our sanities’ sakes, it landed on a date which was sooner rather than later. It’s all working out good with about 10-12 songs complete thus far. It will be intense, naturally, and like always we’ll be looking to move things along a notch production-wise and stylistically. Conceptually, it will, generally speaking, be a tale of analyzing life and stripping it back to the point where I’m asking the question: why are we killing ourselves to get ahead and not appreciating the real simplistic, beautiful things around us? If that sounds hippy-ish, I don’t care, ha ha.”

Smear Campaign was a great album. It'll be interesting to hear exactly what difference improved production values make. For me there studio sound is fine as it is.

The studio sound never bothered me, but I'm anxious to hear what the band has changed. Specifically, I'm wondering how many songs will be on the album since they have 10-12 songs so far...til then, I will be waiting 4 a solid release date.

^10-12 songs? It's Napalm Death, so Naturaly I'm suspicious as to whether they've actually made a whole lot of music so far for this cd. 6 of those could be "You Suffer" remixes lol They could fit a hundred songs onto an album if they really wanted to :p

Now Playing: Napalm Death- "You Suffer" Oh wait, nevermind...

How many ways could you actually remix 'You Suffer' yet keep the impact the original has? I'm going for two maybe.

Awesome. Hopefully they have more than 10-12 songs by the time they record them, haha. The CD would only be about 20 minutes long.

They could experiment a bit with this album...They've proved a million times already that they can kick a$$ proficiently. Maybe a bit more of Barney's sermons and musically something more innovative. Smear Campaign had a great intro...lets see how they top that!
