Trivium Announces Title Of New Album As "Shogun"

Trivium has officially announced the release of "Shogun," their third album for Roadrunner Records. "Shogun" will be released on September 30.
Trivium has changed it up yet again on "Shogun," choosing not to record in the familiar environs of their home state of Florida. Instead the band headed to Nashville, Tennessee to work with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters, Stone Sour). The result is "a monolithic album that crystallizes the band's sound and showcases Trivium's finest elements."
Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy is thrilled with the album, saying, "We made a cohesive, epic metal album that combines all of the ingredients of everything we feel we have ever done 'right' musically, while adding a new direction that the music called for. We had so much fun creating this album and hope our fans feel that energy when they listen."
Even Slayer's Kerry King expressed excitement about touring with the band this fall on the "Unholy Alliance: Chapter 3" European tour. He commented to the UK's Total Guitar magazine, "I'll be at the side of the stage watching them. Great players like that make us want to do better."

WOW... i cant wait to see how people react to this..
a band that almost everyone loves to bash on and criticized is being given praise by SLAYER....
this is a good sign for triviums new album, i think once they come into there own musically they will be amazing, they've been experimenting with different things because they hadnt found themselves quite yet.... this definitly makes me excited for this album

thats because the people that dont like them don't even wanna realize that they have talent...im not saying they're my fav band or remotely close to that, even...but these guys can shred, if Kerry King can recognize it...maybe you should get your hear outta your a$$ and give it a listen. You'll probably still hate them or what they represent, but if you can actually give a good reason why you dont like them, other than : "they suck donkey balls, they're so gay...they suck c***...haha I made a funny to try to impress my "friends" on the net"...then your criticism will mean something...

hate them or love them, those guys can play and have some skill. Im glad Kerry King can aknowledge their potential rather than dismssing them. You dont have to love their music to see that. hopefully they will come out with a good sound though rather than just being another metallica copy. I think this album may be a turning point.

So, I'm supposed to believe that Trivium is capable of releasing something worth listening to twice just because Kerry King says so? Blow me. It's not like Slayer's done anything worth hearing since Diabolus anyways. Thinking that Kerry King can hype up a Trivium album is like hearing Paul McCartney hype up a Nickelback album. I don't believe you, Kerry King. I'm sorry. Maybe if your band was any good anymore and you held any kind of sway in the metal world anymore I'd listen, but this is pretty much one pile of shxt telling me to buy a great big bag of another pile of shxt's stink. Fxck you King, you just lost a lot of respect from a fan.

You know, i'm a critic when comes to the metal i listen to, but i was impressed with their previous releases, and for some guys who are farely new to the scene, they are one of the better acts of today in my opinion. Granted some of thier material do sound often like metallica and more or less use basic metalcore riffs and leads. The James Hetfield (hatfield i donn't know) vocals that matt has incorporated with the crusade album didn't bother me at all, cause you gotta think it had to come sometime where a band rips of metallica, and since metallica was going in an awkward direction anyway maybe trivium can put somethin on the table today thats better than metallica here in the present. And to be clear, i'm not stating in anyway that trivium are (Now) better than metallica, but it's poosible that trivium can over-top what metallica is writing today, because to be honest it's gone downhill in my book, as far as the depth and lyrical standards they were known for back in the old days of Master Of Puppets, they have gotten rusty quite a bit i must say on there writing ability. BUT just my opinion so don't get p***ed lol.

lol...they rip off Metallica, so you decide to hate them....but you still hate what you call "sh**allica for being old farts. Now Kerry King says that Trivium is alright, and now you start baggin' on Kerry for not putting out something good and whatnot...
Bottom line...people like to complain and are narrow-minded as to who they let in to their "little circle of bands" and the ones that are in there and say that someone from the outside is good, they get thown out...stating the obvious, whether that is an obvious opinion or an obvious fact, it is what it is!

I have said so many times...I have already seen this band twice..the first time...very good...
I saw them again on the Crusade...and it was not the same band, in my opinion, even Matt was trying to sing like Hetfield...and that point was stated by another person..so it was true. Trivium just needs to unleash something original again, and heavy....if so..I will be a happy camper. I just don't want to waste my hard-earned money on crap like The Crusade...opinion, of course.

I've said before that they are a very talented band. Talented doesn't mean awesome, it doesn't mean good, it means they are good at playing their specific instruments. I would really like to say that that talent equates to them being good, but when The Crusade came out, I thought it was an awful record. I still can't listen to most of those songs.
I really hope that this record is better because I would love to like these guys.
Kerry King endorsing a band really doesn't do anything for me. Personally, if you are going to start liking a band just because someone says that he does, maybe you need to get your own personality.

I'd rather listen to Metallica's worst rather than Trivium's best. Kerry King is a whore of a talking head and nobody cares what he thinks anymore. Just because you tattoo your head doesn't mean anyone is watching. I saw Black Sabbath set a three-story iron cross on fire, and that was only a few years ago. f*** Slayer.

I agree. Thats pretty much how i feel about this whole thing.
Personally i think trivium are a couple of young, and very capable musicians that just havnt matured as a band and found their right sound yet. This is pretty obvious by their metallica attempts, especially heafy trying sound like hetfield in his singing (which failed pretty bad if u have seen them live since the crusade) If this album can be the one they start to move away from metallica cliches and step towards their own sound then i would be happy. There are a hell of a lot sh**ter bands out there than these guys.

what can i say, i mean, trivium, they can shread but, they have been experimenting which will give different opinions, as an artist, an upcoming artist that is, my opinion is that these guys can shread, like em, or hate them, they are talented, no one can take that away, but i agree they have to be more originial, and to crawfordtx, slayer may not have did not do anything great since dibolica in musica, but their last albums are ok, christ illusion however, had a few good songs, cult being the best, very good song, in fact, christ illusion didn't really suck that bad, maybe not up to old slayer standards, but it won't that great, me ya'll that know me know i own all the slayer albums, as real as they keep the thrash scence, and sound, their last couple albums wont up to slayer standards, anyways, if you want some veterans that to me still sound good, well now were switching to the death metal scence, Acheron, they still sound good and crowley can rip, take a lesson from these guys
