TFoD is in no way "old-school" metal. This is a culmination of Chuck's death metal experience as well as his immense thrash vocals, Skolnick's return to the band, and the rotating drum stool spot being filled with ex-Slayer Paul Bostaph.
Oh, but this is DEFINITELY the best record out of the nominees- I love Blooddrunk, don't get me wrong, but Testament blew CoB out of the water on this one.

heh no one guy....testament will show those fake commercial posers what metal is and
that old school metal has value and musicianship is better than all NEW bands that are
too minimalistic , sterile produced and boring......black metal , nu metal is all crap to me.

This is a much bigger deal than it seems to be. Think about it, Chuck Billy nearly dies 7 years ago and now Testament are finally the well desreved praise they've been longing for. I think this is their best album since 1988's The New Order and certaintly one of their best albums period. I actually saw them live over a month ago and they were f***in killer. Anyway, congrats to Testament and hopefully this isn't their last album because we're not ready to see them go just yet.

f*** yeah! Testament's new album The Formation of Damnation blows away anything Metallica, Slayer or Megadeth has done in the last 10 years or that of any other band they toured with back in the day. After 9 years they came back heavier and better than ever. They definitely deserve the Golden Gods Award for Best Album.
