no not really i just think that metal just moves on. I mean id rather listen to paths of possesion or hate eternal instead of mullet rock like steelheart and skid row. Idk why im probaly older than you but i love really extreme black and death metal call me weird.

Damn, so I guess the assumption that metalheads are kids isn't good any more. I'm surprised the hear you're both older than me, but not by much. I got started on hair metal, but really have no desire to hear it anymore. I soon discovered Metallica...then Pantera...then Seputura...then Deicide and it only got heavier and more extreme from there (even though I've enjoyed some nu-metal and metalcore as well).

I'd sure enjoy a MU chatroom tho..!!
Hey deathbringer..I was beginning to think this was gonna end up a conversation with myself and rk......
I grew up listening to my older brothers favorites in the 70s...Nugent,Zeppelin, Sabbath,Deep Purple etc...( started playing guitar in ' 78 or so.? ).. but then by the early 80s the NWOBHM came along...and I was hooked... the hair metal era was alot of fun.... I hated the whole grunge movement and still do...!!
I listen to alot of the newer bands... but I still have some 80s stuff that gets played quite often...
( cant ever get enough of Jake E Lee and Badlands..!! )
Helix - Six Strings Nine Lives...just for ol times sake..!!

but the thing is to me i thought grunge was good for the punk and metal movement it got rid of a lot of the senseless glam metal that was polluting the airwaves in the 80's and 90's(ie:saigon kick, warrant, slaughter etc.) but on the other hand i absolutey love sh** like priest maiden and dio and all incarnations of sabbath sh** im just starting to get into the martin era sabbath as well. I just thought most hair metal imho was more style than substance with a couple of exceptions a guilty pleasure of mine from the early 80s was dokken and twisted sister im blown away with lynch's solos and stay hungry idgaf what mf's say thats a classic metal album and i dont know if you would consider armored saint hair metal or queensyrche i dug their old sh** as well. Everything changed with me anyways when i started to listen to the big 3 in the 80s Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax sh** incl Nuclear Assault and Overkill as well it opened doors for me to listen to sh** like GBH, DRI, Misfits and so on. Then the whole bm and dm thing is different story and my apologies for boring everyone to tears.

Dokken has always been one of my favorites because of Lynch..he is amazing...!!
I especially liked the Lynch Mob albums..
yeah I dug Armored Saint and older Queensryche.... ( I seen A.S. open for Metallica on the MOP tour in 86...)
and as far as Im concerned any Sabbath after Ozzy left is great... I liked Born Again with Ian Gillian...that was an excellent album...not as good as the two with Dio IMO....but thats just me..!!
as for Twisted Sister...yeah Stay Hungry is a classic ...ever heard Dee Sniders band Widowmaker..? the Blood and Bullets album is pretty decent...!!

Sorry brothers. Cant say that I dig the hair metal stuff. Twisted sister is about all I can take! Something about hair metal grates on my ears like a rusty cheese grator! Its a sh** load better than romance metal or nazi sh**. I do frikin love the look and sound of Harleys! I want a nude of my ol man on one!
