Underoath Prepares To Record New Album

Underoath has been writing material for a new album as of late and will enter the studio next month to track the effort. The band will record in Atlanta, GA for five weeks with Matt Goldman (As Cities Burn, Copeland) and Adam Dutkiewicz (of Killswitch Engage) engineering and producing. The group comments:

"Those dudes are some of the best guys to work with in music period. We have eight songs done right now and they are coming along really well. Some of the heaviest stuff we have ever written, as well as some of the most experimental. I think you will all enjoy it when it's done and we'll be making sure to keep all of you in the loop."

Uh, whatever that meant.

I thank the people who run U.M. for giving its readers information on a wide variety of musicians/bands without assuming everyone listens to the exact same music. Now on the topic ~ I look forward to Underoath's new material, especially since they teamed up with Adam D. Both are great individually but combined ~ the possibilities are endless!

This band might have been metal at one point, but they are so far from it these days. Talk about the definition of a sell out band. How do you go from writing Cries of the Past to They're Only Chasing Safety in the span of three disks?

Yea they arent metal, but fallen how did you insert those crosses into your screen name? Copy paste? And ive heard some of their old and new stuff, at least the new stuff isnt as whiny and soft as their older albums, at least lyrically, less preachy. But i try to stay away from Christian music.

i can't make any comments on this band because i don't know them - but i will definately check them out . I am a christian and also a maiden fan. I don't know many christian metal bands besides Stryper (classic) , as i lay dying, demon hunter, disciple and a few others....can someone tell me what ***emo*** is? if you're thinking - 'gee, this guy's dumb!' - well then you're right....don't know much about computer slang and the many different categories that exist today in the 'metal' scene - it's alot like 'protestant-ism' whereby you have all these different denominations (hundreds). thanx.

The band has lost all the original members except for Aaron Gillespie, the band's drummer / clean vocals. That is why the band's genre has changed. Chamberlain, the lead vocal, was imitating the previous singer until define the great line.

16. FocusShift writes:

Chamberlain has only been on two disks, so he hasn't been doing a lot of imitating. And the keyboardist, one guitarist, and the bassist have been there since Cries of the Past which was an amazing disk. The leaving of the original guitarist after Cries of the Past changed their sound a little bit to something that was still good and not screamo. Dallas had arguments about the direction of the band too and after he was kicked out the others sold themselves for popularity.

I am a huge Underoath fan and they are really talented band, and their more like a cross of screamo and hardcore but if you want to give them a listen and be open minded then I suggest listening to some of their older stuff with Dallas Taylor on vocals which is a lil more heavier then Underoath now.

to the person who said that whoever listen to underoath likes emosh**.
excuse me?
no offense, but really..
how many times can you really sell an album with the same noise all the time.
eventually you're going to run our of creative space and be trapped in a corner and completely boring.
i listen to underoath, and in fact i listen to alot of other stuff too.
i don't even come close to societie's standards for an "emo kid".
the foo fighters new album expieriments with piano - are you gonna say the went "soft".
no, i doubt it.
the couple of time's metallica has played with acoustics, i bet you weren't going "oh the sucks".
bands can't make the same type of music on every record.
otherwise it just get's boring and sounds generic.
plus it's not like they're playing the cello and violia on it - jeeze.
way to make a big deal out of something mad stupid.

oh i forgot, the rationale to my previous statement.
any band whos members wear their sisters pants cant possibly make good music. whats worse is all the scene kids who think wearing tight pants is metal so when i go to a local show there's 20 little prepubecent kids running around flailing their arms and doing ninja kicks.

to underoath--get good.
