Shadows Fall's "Redemption" To Be Used On ESPN

Shadows Fall frontman Brian Fair says that ESPN will be using their song "Redemption" from "Threads Of Life" will be featured during the plays of the month on NFL Live (check local listings for times). Here's Brian's complete posting:

"Seriously ... I didn't think this year good get any better for a Boston sports fan like myself; but now it has.

"First the Sox won the World Series, then the Celtics got KG and the best record in the NBA, the Pats are only one game away from the first 19 and 0 season in NFL history and now I find out that ESPN will be using our music on NFL LIVE!!!!!!!! Our song "Redemption" from THREADS OF LIFE will be featured during the plays of the month on NFL Live, which airs daily on ESPN (check local listings for times). I think it will be the perfect soundtrack to all the hard hits and Tom Brady touchdown passes from the post season. As an ESPN junky, I could not be more stoked to have our music grace the channel that consumes most of my days.

"Maybe we can record a metal version of the SportsCenter theme song next!!!! It's Super Bowl week my friends so get the beers on ice and crank some tunes to get ready for the final showdown of the season. Tom Brady and the boys will be tough to beat on Sunday but my uber - superstitious nature will not allow me to make a prediction. Just rest assured that I will be on my couch with a cold Budweiser in my hand and my old school lucky Bledsoe jersey on screaming at the TV. All the haters can suck it because even when we lose, Boston is better than you!!!"

meh.

Everything from "Of One Blood" to "Fallout..." was great.

The new album is very formulaic--not that it doesn't have it's strong moments but nearly every song follows the same dynamic blueprint. I hope they can ramp up the intensity a notch, bring back the seldom used death vocals, keep the blatant clean vox (those are working for me) and put solos in places other than the songs 3/4-over mark....The band needs their own time without Fares vox too.

Now Playing: Lustmord - "Infinite Domain"

I agree with Remember Metal, I was not very impressed with new album. I really enjoyed "Of One Blood," and I wish they would move back in that direction, although I doubt they will.

Thank you RM?. I myself am a longtime SF fan, and I was utterly confused when I got Threads of Life. Virtually the only song that i thouroughly enjoyed was the very last one on the CD ( dont have it on me right now, so I cant name it). Most of the songs had very little diferentiation between each other in my opinion, perhaps because of the repetitive song structure, or maybe that's just me.
Thank god I stole the CD. If I had paid for it, I would have been p***ed. I still might actually buy one of their old albums though, simply out of respect, but I'm just not sure which one yet. Any suggestions?

Now Playing: Shadows Fall- "Destroyer of Senses" Ahhhh, the good ol days...way back there all the way in 2002, goddamn, I'm getin old....

That Song Redeption would sound even better had the Packers not f**ked up at the NFC Championship and Brett Favre wins his final title against the Patroits.
It is good that ESPN is looking at metal for their highlights

I would suggest either The Art of Balance or The War Within. Both are strong albums--very little filler on either.
Catchy, at times absurdly heavy, better lyrics and themes than Threads of Life on both. Some memorable riffs, good solos and excellent thrash-core drumming. If your looking for something heavy with just a pinch of melody go with Art of Balance if you want the exact same thing with some slightly grander choruses go with War Within...

If you like one, get the other.

War within is by far S.F. best album. If you like S.F. but don't love them, then pickup their best of cd.

I thought Fallout From The War was much better than Threads Of Life, the songs are heavier and the choruses aren't as whiny. But straight up man, Art Of Balance is without a doubt their best album, and Mystery Of One Spirit is in my opinion their best song.

I actually liked Threads of Life quite a bit. It took some warming up to, but the songs are very well done even if formulaic. I didn't care for Fallout from the War at all, however. I liked the first song, but a lot of it felt like B sides to me.

Agreed. "Fallout" was quite thrown together. That closing Dangerous Toys cover didn't help matters either. "Deadworld" and "In Effigy" are two of my favorite tracks from Shadows Fall though.

Threads of Life wasn't bad at all, just that it had a touch of the wheel-spinning vibe toward the end. I'll still pick up their next one--I've been a fan since Of One Blood, they'd have to make a certifiable bomb for me to look the other way.

of one blood and art of balance are my favorites by far. i wish they'd throw in more older stuff during their shows because i'm not too fond of the newer stuff but it's still good in it's own right.
