Avenged Sevenfold Accepting Fans Guitar Solos

The Pulse of Radio reports: AVENGED SEVENFOLD is giving fans a chance to create their own guitar solo for the band's latest single, "Almost Easy". Anyone who pre-orders the group's new self-titled album or buys it after it comes out on October 30 at the iTunes store will receive a bonus "jam-along" version of the track minus guitarist Synyster Gates' solo. Fans can then devise their own solo and upload it at AvengedSevenfold.com. The solo picked by Gates as the best will earn the winner a Synyster Gates signature model guitar from Schecter Guitar Research, autographed by the entire band, along with a pair of tickets to an upcoming show where they will meet AVENGED SEVENFOLD.
Lead vocalist M. Shadows told The Pulse of Radio that the band felt "Almost Easy" would set itself apart from other rock tracks as soon as it got on the radio. "Musically, it's just bad-ass," he said. "Like, we wanted to go with the first single being something that was gonna kick ass on the radio and didn't sound like anything else out there and kind of set us apart. Everything's so formula, and what we like about this song is not formula at all. But it's still somehow under four minutes, we've got two guitar solos in there, a guitar intro, a great bridge, bad-ass chorus and some slamming riffs."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new record, its fourth, follows up 2005's "City of Evil". It will arrive as both a standard CD and an interactive MVI disc.
The California-based act will play a free show in Hollywood this Saturday (October 20) before beginning a U.S. tour on October 29th in Los Angeles. An October 30 performance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" is also on tap.

To hell with all of them... it would be funnier to see Desiree Bassett send them a solo....this is a 15 yr old girl that makes most adult players sound like beginners....check her out on Youtube or her own website...damn the girl is AMAZING..!!!!!!!!
what am I hearin....Desiree Bassett doing All along the Watchtower

dude i saw your post and so i went on youtube 2 try and find her and she is hell of alot better than what i could do at playing a guitar, maybe 1 of the best young guitar players i've seen in a while. i watch the video of her at the 2nd annual wimBASH but she was only 14 then.

30. writes:
yea, good at copying things. and from the video i saw, i think 13 year old shredding?, it was just really awful regardless of how fast she can play. anyone with enough training can do any of those things, especially if she has the crazy parents that like vicariously through their children. now, i dont really know if shes a prodigy or not, but with the internet age and youtube i view everything with a large degree of skepticism.

i find it funny when someone has to say something like "well i dont see you tearing up the fretboard" or "if you dont like it lets see you do it better". seriously, come up with something better, and dont be a f***ing d*** if you dont agree with me and dont have anything to back it up with. im actually pretty good at guitar, and the reason why i dont/wouldnt post anything on youtube is i think that whole idea is silly (and i dont have any sort of camera/webcam). i honestly hate seeing peoples guitar playing videos (other than the instructional ones). its a little too ego stroking for my taste. f***, there are videos of some douchebag playing nickleback songs that have pretty high ratings with a lot of positive comments. and honestly, i dont really give a flying f*** about some 14 year olds abilities to play a hendrix song. the dude from psyopus is a pretty good guitar player ability wise, but he cant even make a decent song. he has some good parts, but as a whole, hes a hack, a good hack, but a hack none the less.

35. writes:
Well put fear, though I do like Psyopus. Musicianship isn't just about being talented, its about having the ability to write with soul and make music that has a life to it, not just be completely and technically ridiculous.
That's why this band has gathered themselves such a horrible rep (along with their egos, and horrible vocals) is because their music has no soul.

Well, it seems that its OK, to toot your own horn...so I'll jump on the bandwagon too....
I am a guitarist/bass player and have been playing longer than most of you have been alive..hell I was giving lessons in the 80s for Christs sake... I have seen close to a hundred bands live...not including "bar bands"... so, I feel that I am a decent judge of talent when it comes to "axe slingers"... so, when I said that this girl ( Desiree Bassett ) is amazing... I wasnt just talkin outa my a$$..... Hell, its not like the videos are her in front of a webcam....she is on stage with the f^ckin editor of Guitar World Magazine.... and playing at NAMM.... for f^cks sake.... in another one.. she is jammin on stage with Living Color.... if "burnin" Vernon Ried thinks she is good... then maybe there is something to it...??????
and just to throw this out there.....I dont have any videos posted on Youtube either.....I spend WAAAAYYYY too much money on my guitars to afford a f^ckin webcam...so its not like I can say watch mine...
On another note....on Youtube you can find some other kids playing under the name of Princeton School of Rock... these kids are quite talented too.... a 15 yr old girl drummer playing Achilles Last Stand and not missing a beat is AMAZING...!!
what am I hearin.? Rainbow - Cant Happen Here

so that gives you the right to automatically discount my opinion? its a child playing a rendition of a song. no doubt she is good. and that matters to me how? shes still just playing what shes learned. i have no doubts about her technical prowess. thats not my issue, which you seemed to completely ignore. the problem i have with your constant plugging of her (not just on this thread, but on the other avenged sevenfold one as well) is that all she does is play well. i dont really care if she can play well, its not that impressive. give me something that sounds awesome, that has some sort of thought into it, thats impressive in any way but technical. then i will give her the credit due, until then she is just playing an instrument incredibly well but contributing nothing to art. theres far to many of these "child prodigies" out there on youtube for me to actually care about how any of them play.

39. writes:
uhh....ok, so you have an opinion...thats good.. I was not discounting or ignoring it...just giving you my opinion of your thoughts..!
Yes, I did mention her name in that other A7X thread... I was suggesting that other people may want to check her out.....others watched and commented.... you are the only one with anything negative to say....!!
I wasnt the one made this comment...
"but some fag commented of how she sucks, he's probably just mad that a 13 year old girl can play a guitar better than his sorry a$$ can.people like that make me so p***ed off "
I feel the same though....you are a putz..!!

40. writes:
when did i say she sucks? youre not even hearing my argument, youre just ignoring it and making up another one. i said that i have no doubts of her technical prowess, im just saying that im not impressed by what she plays, not by how she plays. so if you want to be a f***ing a$$hole, go ahead, youve already accomplished that. and youve proved that you have no point other than being an a$$hole because i disagree that shes the most amazing f***ing thing in the world. so if anything man, youre the putz. and by the way, i never went out of my way to insult you, but for some reason you think im just attacking you personally and you feel the need to insult me. so what, are you like her dad or something?

41. writes:
see, all you are talking about, in your previous post as well is what they play. what they play written by other people. thats my point. i am not impressed by someone's ability to play what another person wrote. thats like saying, "oh man, wait till you hear my cover band play this awesome song from another band that we play dead on. but get this, our guitar player is 15!"
42. writes:
I said this in other threads but yeah, I'll always think Jason Becker was the child guitar prodigy to end all. He joined Cacophany when he was 16. There's some amazing vids of him playing when he was 18. Muhammed Suicmez also wrote all of "Onset of Putrefaction" (ridiculously technical, probably some of my favourite solos ever) by the time he was 18.
That said it doesn't matter as long as your songwriting is down, ie I'd rather listen to Steven O'Malley that Yngwie Malmsteen.

OK.....fine...I am an A$$hole..!! I have known that for a long time.. Ask most of the women I have lived with...they will tell you the same thing..!!
I do understand your point of view...and no, I am not her father...however I am impressed by her abilities..whether its playing someone elses music or not..shes pretty good.... believe me, I have seen my share of waterheads that wanted to play and then convinced their parents to buy them expensive guitars and equipment and then paid me to teach them....and it was a waste of time...
Not just anyone can pick up a guitar and play it.....
At no time, did I use the word prodigy...or even the phrase "most amazing f^cking thing in the world"
So anyway, I didnt want to start some useless battle... OK..?
Yes, Becker's playing is definatly impressive to say the least...
another amazing player is or was... Shawn Lane....he died waaaaay before his time...Check out some of his stuff on the 'ol Youtube...

He means to say: two weak a$$ solos, a simplistic guitar intro, a lame bridge, a pop-core chorus, and some nu-metal riffs.
I should have one of my guitarists enter that contest so Syn can cry when he can't play it himself.
