Original Devourment Vocalist Wayne Knupp Passes Away
Original DEVOURMENT vocalist Wayne Knupp passed away last week from multiple organ failure that was caused by years of alcohol abuse. His girlfriend Jessica Gant has released the following statement to Blabbermouth.net:
"First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody who has sent kind words. They are very much appreciated and I told Wayne about everybody who sent him messages.
"Unfortunately the rumors you all heard are true and our dear friend Wayne Knupp has passed away today (September 15) at 2:15 p.m. due to multiple organ failure that was caused by years of alcohol abuse. Wayne spent 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital with a lot of people fighting for him. His family and friends played a big role in supporting him during this difficult time.
"As you all know, Wayne was a major supporter and contributor to the death metal scene for most of his life. He remained loyal to his fans and always stayed brutal till the end. Just yesterday he was throwing up the horns! He never turned anybody away and would give the shirt off his back to help if he could.
"Just to let you all know, he did pass away very peacefully with his close family and friends around his bedside. I held his hand as he took his last breath, and the last thing he heard was that we were all there and he wasn't alone.
"For those of you that could not be there the last couple weeks, do not feel any remorse because he knew you all were thinking of him and that is what kept him fighting 'till the very end.
"For any of you, who have thought about starting a fund or having a benefit, please contact me before anything takes place. It is his family's request that nothing take place without their consent. I will keep you all posted about a memorial service for Wayne that will be held up by Chicago in the near future.
"Thank you all for your love and support. It's very comforting in a time like this."

I can honesly say I don't think I've ever heard of Devorment but they sound like they're pretty badass. But it sucks to know that we've lost a brother in Death Metal.
It's never cool to know that we lost ANYONE in any kind of Metal. I hope that he continues to rock on, even after death. I'm sure he had and lived a very great and successful life. I sure hope he enjoyed.
R.I.P. Man.
Your memory will always live on in our hearts forever. *Salutes the Devil Horns* Goodbye man.

RIP
What's funny is that nobody has probably ever really LISTENED to Devourment, but have no problem showing mass respect for them just because this guy is dead now, but people are more willing to bash bands like A7X for the opposite reason.
You retards make no sense at all.

Man this is major deja vu from a time I was crucified for saying the same thing, "It's never cool to know that we lost ANYONE in any kind of Metal"?? People in metal die every day dude, you must live in a dream world. The funniest thing about it that's half the reason I like death metal, the lyrical content is about facing the reality of death.

I think its stupid for anyone to get themselves on a sidebar conversation like "You must live in a dream world if you dont think people die" and "I was Crucified for saying the same thing". if any thing, we should all just focus on paying our respects to the guy, rather you've heard the band or not.
R.I.P my brother. \m/ Rock 'n' phuken Roll

Hey dude Don't be so quick as to assume that people didn't listen to Devourment. I did and I am saddened by this. I'm talking to you crawford. Did you listen to Devourment? Probably not so keep the negative comments to yourself. W. Knupp Hail to you brother for what you did for the scene.

Well, at least people know who A7X are, whether it's positive or negative.
Godsong6, I tried REAL hard to listen to Devourment.
You know, I could go on about what Devourment supposedly "did" for the "scene" (what? scene?) but this is starting to resemble starting a fight at a funeral, so I'll save my comments for that big Devourment reunion news.

Devourment is one of the main bands if not, the main band in the Brutal Death Metal Scene. Wayne played on there Demo, you can get it on the 138 cd along with Molesting the Decapitated, & he came back to do some tracks on Butcher the Week their last cd. Vocally he started a whole knew style immitated by hundreds.
