Disney Force Machine Head Show Cancellation

Band Photo: Machine Head (?)
The following message has been posted via the official Machine Head myspace:
"In a stunning last-minute move, Walt Disney Properties have pressured promoter Live Nation into canceling Machine Head's performance tomorrow night at the House of Blues venue in Anaheim (on their Disneyland property). Citing violent imagery, undesirable fans and inflammatory lyrics as the reason, the diversity-impaired corporation began pressuring the promoter on Saturday to cancel all upcoming heavy metal concerts, placing Machine Head under an internal "review process" that took 5 days before bothering to convey their alarming decision to the band late yesterday - less than 48 hours before their Black Tyranny Tour was to kick off at House of Blues Anaheim on Friday night.
While the enactment of this new blanket rule applies to all upcoming heavy metal shows at the House Of Blues Anaheim (with some metal bands having been banned from performing on name alone), Machine Head is the first band to actually have tickets go on sale, and remain on sale for 2 months, before intense pressure and vague threats of liability from the Corporation left the promoter with no choice but to remove the show from the venue.
As a result, Live Nation's Paul McGuigan did the honorable thing and incredibly, on one days notice, managed to salvage the tour's opening night by moving the first date of The Black Tyranny tour (featuring Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Throwdown, and Sanctity) to The Glass House in Pomona, CA (located at 200 W. Second Street). All existing tickets will be redeemable for entry at The Glass House, and all Will Call pickups will now be available for pickup at the new venue. Any fans unable to make the 70-mile trip to The Glass House as a result of this ridiculous turn of events will be able to have their money refunded in full. Strangely, all other Black Tyranny dates at House Of Blues venues on Disney property will remain unaffected.
On behalf of all four bands on the bill, Machine Head wish to extend their gratitude to promoter Paul McGuigan and Live Nation for finding an alternate venue for tomorrow night's show on such short notice."

Won't SOMEBODY think of the children?! They could be exposed to this awful, satanic destruction of life as we know it.

What a load of crap. "Undesirable fans"? Since that isn't blatant discrimination or anything. Freedom of speech and expression? Hell no, Disney is above the law.
As if there aren't all sorts of "undesirables" wandering around Disney's theme parks on any given day. So do they refuse entry to people wearing metal t-shirts? Or tell them to get off their property? I doubt it.
Somebody needs to sue these d***s and let them know they can't just stomp all over anything they want and not face any legal ramifications. Unfortunately I'm sure contractual agreements have their asses covered. Disgusting... disappointing and disgusting.

this sucks so much, HoB is my favorite venue, it has such a cozy feeling with the whole log cabin thing going on
JD - yep along with every metal band scheduled there, right after the Dimmu Borgir show in May the band walked around drunk and harassed the children and fans too were going crazy around all the families. so because of that they've decided to not let any metal bands play there anymore, its so gay, there were a dozen good shows coming up planned for HOB and now they're at some random club near by
this is the new thing for the Orlando location don't know if it holds true for the rest of the HoB's

damn shoe police not a big mouse fan are we? well lets stop attacking the animated characters and focus on the real enemy, (well excluding the little mermaid, f*** the little mermaid).......it is the fags behind the actual disney image.......i mean look at pirates of the caribbean, those movies were a little too violent for "disney family entertainment" f*** you disney, killing is a lot "worse" of an influence than anything heavy music can bring to a child's mind. and who the f*** says that children are gonna go to a metal show to be disturved by "violent imagery".....imagine this sh**: a family of four is at disney and they are deciding what to do one of the nights they're there....so little 8 year old joey says "hey mom why dont we go see machine head"......get the f*** out of here disney if you're not watching how can you feel offended. leave the fans alone.

this is just another example of christian hypocricy.....let all the weak a$$ sh1tty music be played at this "family oriented park", and oppress the rest....agter all, disney cartoons and most cartoons in general are some of the most violent images on tv...
"undesirable fans", once again here they go with expressing their own opinions on the metal fans...thats ok by me, cause i wouldnt waste 1 dollar at that "homo playground"...it only shows that disney is a facist place and needs to be boycotted....

Yeah Oz, I saw that cartoon a week or two ago, a friend of mine told me about it. You can still find it on YouTube I think. I wasn't offended by it at all, but I was a little shocked by the video. It would be really interesting to hear Disney's response if somebody brought that up though, I'd love to hear them try to glaze that one over.

I wish I were stunned by this.
Disney will lay dormant for so many hot button issues and then pounce on the strangest things.....MachineHead is pretty typical, middle-of-the-road metal. Not too popular but nowhere near under the radar. Not Satanic but not Underoath either.
If Zao gets banned and Gorgoroth manage to play the HOB Anaheim( a very conservative place in otherwise mega-liberal state )I'm taking a barrel to Niagra Falls.

Well this is garbage censorship...however...the Donald Duck Nazi arguement can hold no water...The cartoon was made during WW2 as an american prapoghanda piece and shows the Nazi's in a negative light...overworking their people and givin little in return....in the end..Donald wakes up in his bed in AMERICA....all I'm sayin is...they're not hypocrites for that
This is a really bad business decision...it won't make or break them but they will be losing lots potential revenue...the Metal community is a big one and to alienate an entire genre of fans is nothing short of bad business. But if Dimmu Borgir ended up getting drunk and harrasing people...why isn't anyone blaming them for ruining it for everyone else?

Disney has a right to censor, but it is really sh**ty that they would let tickets go on sale and then pressure people. If they'd just nixed it from the beginning then it would have been fine. Disney is what it is. Why should I care if they want to decide what does or does not play on their property?

I never called them hypocrites for making the Donald Duck Nazi cartoon. I'm well aware it's propaganda. However, I doubt that back then, every kid knew who Hitler and Mussolini were so no doubt there were some kids giving the salute and saying "Heil Hitler" in a Donald Duck voice... at least it'd be funny if there were. All this Disney talk is giving me an urge to watch the Lion King now.

heres the deal. disney does not own hob. hob pays rent to be on their property, there is a gag order that restricts hob employees saying disney is cancelling the shows, they are taking money from bartenders, bouncers and other hob employees who need these concerts to survive, these bands have played the venues on disney property before which automatically makes this discriminatory, not to mention that disney caters to gay week in orlando, which i find "undesireable"
