Sludge-core veterans Cavity announce their impending break up

Sludge-core outfit Cavity has officially announced it will break up shortly due to musical differences and commitment issues within the band.

"When individuals form a band, sometimes the only thing they have in common is a love for the music and even then sometimes not," explained bassist Dan Gorostiaga from his home in Miami, Florida. "Within Cavity, we had accomplished our musical vision which I am very proud of, however since starting this band over 10 years ago, we have all grown as people and mostly in too different directions to continue."

Cavity released five full-length albums on a variety of labels: Rhetoric Records, Bacteria Sour, Man's Ruin and most recently Hydrahead Records were all home to Cavity during their 10 year career. The band was known for its incredible, and often dangerous, live shows, where they shared the stage with such reputable acts as Frodus, The Refused, High On Fire, ISIS, Converge, Avail, Man is the Bastard, EyeHateGod, Bongzilla, Disassociate, Rorschach, Assuck 16 and Heroin.

Currently, Gorostiaga is writing with former Cavity member John Bonnan (also of the Crumbs) in an as-yet-unnamed project that's like "Cavity but more in the vein of The Birthday Party and The Gun Club." Guitarist Jason Landrian is working with Rafael Martinez (ex-Gammera) on an unnamed project, while guitarist Ryan Weinstein is helming a project with ex-members of Machete as well as a "rumored" project involving Aaron Turner of ISIS, Old Man Gloom.
