Alarum Guitarist Scott Young Leaves Band
Melbourne jazz metal band Alarum have lost their 12 year guitarist Scott Young, who left the band to pursue his solo projects and work with gothic metal outfit Darkest Dawn. In a recent interview, Young reflected on the decision to strike out on his own, saying:
It was an extremely difficult choice to make - these guys are like family to me, you know. But something simply had to give. I was stretching myself too thin, and I didn’t want to mess the guys around. I still believe in the band and their music, and wish them all the best. I’m very excited about pursuing my solo material, which I’ve had on the back burner for years - and in seeing what may come of Darkest Dawn.
Young performed his final gig with Alarum supporting Obituary at the Prince Of Wales in Melbourne on May 17 2007, to great support from loyal fans. Meanwhile, Darkest Dawn are currently mastering their debut album, "End Of Season". Recorded with Theron Rennison and set to hit store shelves in August, the album will be distributed in Australia by Riot Entertainment, and is currently being shopped to overseas labels. The news of Young's departure comes just months after drummer Matt Racovalis left the band and was replaced by Rob Brens.
