Bands will play for free. What other tour can most of the 2nd stage bands play on in front of anywhere from 3-8,000 people. They'll do it for the exposure. Most bands like that would be openers for a club tour where half the venue is empty until the direct support and headliners get ready to play.

A lot of bands have played for free over the years Ozzfest has been around. That is the reason Nothingface dropped their last lable, 'cause they were playing for free and expected a little help from the lable (Since it is their job and all) and they wouldn't even hook em up with a little gas money. Kinda sheisty, I know I would play for free if it meant sharing the stage with Ozzy ^_^
Just a shame the only Ohio date is crappy Germain, or whatever they call it now... I think it is called comunity something now. They have renamed it 3 times in my lifetime and I am am not even 30 yet haha

i want to see some goddamned european metal bands come rip it up. behemoth was rad on SOTU, but we need more! i think wintersun needs to come and rock the hell out of the states, along with some others. what about a possible dimmu comeback? they played ozzfest a few years back...
BUT!!!
the whole free thing might cause for a bunch of sucker whiney bands to perform...and the last thing i want to see or hear, is some chump complaining about everything being grey in the universe and his girl problems.

Um, not only have bands played for free, they had to come up with $200,000 + to play at ozzfest. Well their record label handles that. Only bands that are invited by sharon or Ozzy will get paid for their time. Which is usually only Main Stage, and 2nd stage headliners.

Yes...there's like four or five of these shows I could make it to. Now all I'm waiting on is the bands to be announced.
