Actually, I distinctly recall a statement made after their latest cd (the name escapes me) that said they weren't really going to be doing too much more together. One more tour and then maybe that was it and a new album wasn't to be expected.
On one hand, I can go for the "fans demand it" bit. Certainly, there have been other bands that have said "Adios" (catch the hint, here) and then came back later because of nothing but raw demand. - In case you didn't catch the hint, it was KMFDM.
On the other hand, I can certainly go for the money bit. Slipknot, love 'em or hate 'em, know how to rake in the cash. Slipknot, love 'em or hate 'em, know how to put on one hell of a live show and know how to put together an album. Have you been on the floor during a Slipknot show? Hell.... have you been on the ground during a Slipknot set during 90+ degree weather at Ozzfest? It's freaking violent. (and fun, mind you) What reason is there to stop when you know any and every blink of your eyelash will net you another couple hundred grand? Those who have power will use it, it's been said.
Eh. I like their stuff. It's aggressive, a brand a metal and heavy as f*** when they want it to be. I'll defend the music, but not the guys if they're doing it for the money.

I'm sick of how mainstream Slipknot have become. Everywhere I go in my school there are so many people with Slipknot shirts, thinking they're so hardcore. Someone I work with asked me what I listened to and I said metal, and he said "oh, like Slipknot?"...it just pisses me off how that's now the first band people think of when someone mentions metal.
Plus, half of the band does nothing that requires talent.

i thought slipknot might have broken up because stonesour has their lead singer and two guitarists. why would they remain in both bands?
