Bill Ward Confirms That He Will Not Be Part of Heaven And Hell

Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward said that, contrary to reports, he will not be working with Heaven & Hell, which finds Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler reuniting with Ronnie James Dio, the band's singer from 1979-83, as well as former Sabbath/Dio drummer Vinny Appice. "I realize there has been some speculation as to whether or not I am participating in the Heaven & Hell project," Ward wrote in a post on his official Web site. "I want to confirm that I will not be involved in either the recordings for the upcoming CD or the subsequent tour. I want to wish the guys — Tony, Geezer, Ronnie and Vinny — much success for the coming year." A posting on Iommi's Web site from October lists Ward as being involved in the project.

Dude, check the history of Sabbath...the only constant member has been Iommi...!!!! His guitar riffs have been what has made Sabbath what they are today... Him and his Gibson SG..!!!!!! Yes, Butler and Ward are originals...but they have both left and been replaced several times in the last 30 odd years...

theres no discounting the fact that iommi is the only constant and hes a f$%&ing legend at that, but i think geezer is a pretty big part of that sound that they captured and inspires alot of metal today.they still would have been good without geezer but he really did alot as well as iommi for the sound and the way metal is played today! you cant have that bluesy sound that inspired them without that low end sound as well .i think that this is gonna be a great thing to hear and hopefully see. dio stills kicks a$$ in his own right you know?!!?

^^^^^^^ And to that, I agree 100%..!!!! Geezer Butler is actually a phenominal bassist..!! Without a doubt !!! In fact one of my favorite Sabbath tunes is off of Mob Rules.. the song Slipping Away..Geezer's bass lines in that song are F^CKIN amazing..!! then at solo time..Iommi and Butler exchange solos..!! That just kicked a$$ the first time I heard it...and while listening to it right now..I still think its cool...Throughout metal history, unless it was during a show, the bassplayers never did any soloing..!!!
And even then, during concerts, some of the bass solos I have seen were kinda lame...but then again I have seen some of the greatest to ever pick up the instrument too... Geddy Lee and Les Claypool ( on the same tour in '93 ) and I have seen Billy Sheehan a couple times among a few others that stick in my mind..!!
Now, Im not saying that Butler is in the same league as Les Claypool or Billy Sheehan, but he is quite amazing..!!! I dont think I have ever seen anyone as amazing as Claypool and Sheehan.!!!!
I am truly hoping that this reunion tour, gets anywhere, even near the midwest...I am actually quite excited to see Dio with Sabbath..Ive seen them both, but not together, and even met Dio once..!!
Just the thought of seeing this show, actually almost gives me a chubby... I dont mean a full on BONER but it definatly has less wrinkles in it.!!!

do you know how low geez tuned his bass to match iommi and still got the sound that defined sabbath? listen to geezers riffs on fairies wear boots if you wanna hear something or his work during tonys soloing on war pigs. to even think of comparing sheehan or especially claypool to geezer is fukken unbelievable. open your fukken ears . geezer did that sh** before claypool was born out

This isnt really a bid deal...Hell, the drummers throne of Black Sabbath has been as much of a revolving door as the singers and bass players. Iommi Is Black Sabbath.!!!!!!!!!!!!! So as long as he is involved this will be a great project..!!! Instead of all the talk and speculations...lets see some damn U.S. tour dates booked and get this show on the road.!!!!!!!! The Mob Rules.!!!!!!! \m/
