Bruce Dickinson Banned From His Son's Gigs

Rocker Bruce Dickinson has been banned from watching his 16-year-old son's gigs, because he gets put off when he sees his dad in the audience.
The Iron Maiden frontman has agreed to his son Austin's request, but only because he remembers the embarrassment he felt when his own father used to come and watch him play as a young man.
Dickinson says, "He (Austin) said to me, 'I know you want to come but when you do, I panic.' I understand. I don't want to be a stage dad.
"I remember my dad coming to one of my first gigs and marching to the front in his suit and putting his elbows on the stage. Embarrassing."

i can understand where the kid's coming from. even if his dad is the legendary bruce d***enson, its still his dad. and being the son of a metal god can put a lot of unnecessary pressure on him to begin with.
now from a marketing standpoint, if people found out that bruce was at his kid's shows, he'd sell out the joint every time he played!

eddie, somehow you talk about commiting gay beastiality to meet Bruce d***inson, and somehow Austin d***inson is the fag for not wanting his dad in shows...Oh yeah, you can't spell...Not being a d*** (yeah I am), I just wanted to point that out matey
I can honestly see both sides of this...One side would be good if Bruce d***inson was there, because everyone would go "ZOMG Bruce's son!" and that would help little Austin a lot. But I can also see how this can be bad, because Austin could always end up in Bruce's shadow...And lets not forget Kelly Osbourne O' komrades ov the kvlt scene...She is a sh**ty musician and should've left music to her father...I can definitely see Austin not wanting to be compared to his father all the time, and if Austin isn't considered as good as his dad, there's a chance people will look at him the way we look at Kelly Osbourne...
But of course, lets say that maybe he's got the gift like his dad, maybe he should be honoured that his pops wants to see...But again, I can see how having dad around is good and bad...
I knwo for goddamn sure I wouldn't want my dad going to my gigs. Definitely not for the same reasons as Austin, but maybe the same reason as Bruce was with his dad, plus I don't think my dad could handle the material me and the guys I play with have...And of course lets not forget what musicians have done on stage as well as offstage...I know I wouldn't want dad around when the Sex and Drugs came after the Rock n' Roll ya know?

I understand it totally.I've saide it before my father never supported my interest in music mainly because I wanted to be in ROCK/METAL(he still think's I'm Demon possesed)So although he atleast has his father's support.I can understand his problem.I would not want my Dad showeing up either.Although my reason's are the exact opposite.

Hey, what is Al Roker's daughter doing on here..?
Parents in the crowd is a total buzz kill....All that pressure of playing and then to add on that your dad is watching....that would suck...!!!!
Anybody watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels.?..his kid went through the same thing...!!!!

So, to get back to the subject... It doesnt say what the kid does in his band... If he is the singer...I guess there isnt many better coaches out there for a kid to have....Hell, if he plays guitar of bass could you imagine growing up watching Murray, Smith or Harris....WOW... Maiden rules \m/

i hv to say that i kinda agree with Austin's decision......i would hate it if my dad came to my gig(which by the way wasn't that great cus they messed up our sound) ..... But then again , it must own to have the singer of one of the greatest bands as ur dad. But of course theres the on-stage pressure....Oh - well , thats what its all 'bout!

This is the gayest thing I've ever heard of. Can't a father watch from a distance without being a d***-inson?
