According to a posting on IN FLAMES' official web site, guitarist Jesper Strömblad "has issues to deal with" and "will take a break" from the group's current touring activities. However, fans are being assured that Jesper "will be back." The rest of the band will complete the forthcoming tours and no dates will be cancelled.

actually they have a good amount of songs that require only one guitarist since the other guy just harmonizes. yes you won't hear harmonies and such, but in cases like these you can wing it enough that fans can enjoy it. aka better than nothing.

There has got ot be more to the story than this. No one leaves their band (even temporarily) at the point that In Flames has reached simplly because he wanted to "take a break". I love this band to death, but the story probably doesn't end here.

Hey Stephan obviousely there is a longer story that's why it says "has issues to deal with." And sometimes stress gets built up enough where you just need to stop for a little bit. It's happened to people before and that has stopped bands from touring for a little bit. Touring is hard on bands, but some people love it and can't stand to be home. And this band could very easily replace him if they needed to. I'm not saying he's a bad guitarist but if they wanted to have the two guitars then they could teach someone. All that probably happened was the sh** hit the fan for him and he just needs to chill.

Yeah, I suppose StabbingtheDrama is right. And yes, he could be replaced with ease for touring purposes. He's really not that much of a shredding guitarist; his real niche is in songwriting and song structure. Oh well, I hope his hiatus doesn't last long.

its not that he isnt such a good guitarist, its that he was with the original band in the beginning and its just not IN FLAMES without Jesper with them

IN FLAMES - i know i agree with you!....im kinda second guessing on going to their concert when they come to Detroit....i have to drive 2 hours to get there and when i do Jesper wont be playing! so there will only be 4 members there....i dont know i shale think about going now.....In Flames are still my favourite band and i havent yet seen them live but...i kinda still wont because its not fully 100% In Flames.

I recently heard In Flames songs as background music for the Bam Margera show. This sucks. Perhaps Jesper is just tired of the band`s gettin bigger and bigger. Jesper is the man and the most talented and creative player in the band but you can replace him to play live, so those of you who are about to go to a show, don`t worry to much.
