Evanescence's "The Open Door" Debuts At #1 On Billboard, Selling 447,000 Units
With their decidedly less metallic/heavy followup to "Fallen," Evanescence's "The Open Door" has debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at number 1. The Wind-Up effort moved 447,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the rock act's first No. 1 on the chart. The band's debut, 2003's "Fallen," spent 104 weeks on the big chart, peaking at No. 3 and selling more than 6.6 million copies in the United States.
"The Open Door" also marks the 700th No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 since the magazine began publishing the weekly chart 50 years ago.

yeah dat why i fight with them, cuz they are so f***ing stupid, they only pay attention to what they do in their personal lives and what they are all about, not their music......i f***ing hate dat.
i like an artist because of how they play, i don't care if they are satanic or christian, as long as they have good lyrics.....
some ppl even hate band cuz they are wiggers like lord agony hatin on korn cuz of dat. stupid sh**, or cuz some are sell-out...like korn selling out so now we would hate them...wtf is dat?
or cuz they are non-metal, i like bands that are non-metal like shinedown, staind, and evanescene...they are sweet...
by da way i'm surprised at this achievement so far...it seems like ppl like the new evanescene more than the old.

I am not against non-metal music, f*** I even listen to hiphop myself. It's just that this is a news site called Metal Underground, which consists of two words that have nothing to do with Evanescence. The first word is METAL, and the other is UNDERGROUND. Selling six million copies of a CD is NOT underground. It's called mainstream. Evanescence news are to be posted on something more aptly named, like rockmainstream.com.
Also, learn proper English.

As far as the site posting the news on this band...
Metal is a very broad term, and if we were to try and limit metal to only what WE thought was metal I'm sure that alot of people would fell left out and let down....Furthermore, there are people out there who listen to Behemoth AND Evanescence, so why take away a one stop rock/metal news source from them?......
I personally can't stand Evanescence but I'm not offended that we post news about them and neither should anyone else...It's a waste of anger, time and energy to give a sh** about something so trivial.

I'm with #11, metal can mean lots of different stuff to lots of different people. metal from the 80's isn't as crazy-evil-heavy as metal nowadays, but it's still metal.
i like evanescence though. oh, and about "some snobby b**** singing about nothing" look up....most metal lyrics. it's generally about nothing or ripping off someone's face. and so what if it's not underground? there's lots of stuff on this site that's not underground.

It doesnt bother me. Don't get me wrong I love all music from Tom Waits to Tom Jones. I think it's slightly misleading when a site that promotes metal music, posts information regarding pop and rock bands. It's like going to a porn site for anal sex and seeing oral sex. Two totally different categories. To each their own I guess!

Thanks RememberMetal? - I've always tried to take an inclusive view of metal, meaning most anything related to metal (not just pure "heavy metal"). Fallen was certainly nu-metal, but they've gone soft even from that point with this new album and I suspect our coverage will be even more scarce (I've passed up posting a number of not so important stories on this band lately in light of their new direction).

I have to admit post 17 makes a (hilarious) point...
And as deathbringer said, expect coverage of Evanescence to wain a bit like most of the nu-metal set anything riffy or heavy about those bands is vanishing.
However there are always going to be news, reviews and interviews with some bands that some fans won't think are heavy or metal or either....It's sort of a hard line to draw in the sand because everyones idea of metal is differnt.

if you dont like it no ones makin you listen to it or post here. although it is quite entertaining to watch these idiots babble on about how much they dont like something while i save my energy for talkin up the bands i like and also posting smart-ass messages like this

Yeah it is very tough to draw a line when it comes to Evanescence. Im sure if you ask Venom, Slayer, Pantera, etc... they will say the same thing. Ive had about enough of the slack jawed fa**ots saying "if you dont like it nobodys makin you" crap. I come here for metal news, and I expect to see metal news. Make sure you save your energy too! Everyone knows its like runnin a marathon to type a few f***in words into a god damned box! hahaha.

agreed evanescence aren't metal, but they aren't f***ing sh**! they're amazing! amy lee has one hell of a voice on her! shame that their new stuff isn't as good as the stuff from Fallen, but bands have got to change with the times i guess. it's sorta obvious they aren't sh** if you read the f***ing article. doesn't take a genius to work out that sh** music couldn't get to no.1. and they aren't pop, retards.

I personally don't like Evanescence. It's not a band that I would post news on but there are just as many people coming here for Pig Destroyer and Behemoth as Evanescence.
Some think Evanescence is or were metal. I do not. But in the interest of being openminded, we'd like some fans of Evanescence to come here if for no reason other than to introduce them to other, possibly heavier, bands.
If you see no merit in that then I'm sure you've forgotten how you became a metal fan. Everyone starts with accessible and poppy sh** before making their way to Slayer, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse etc.
I'm sure the same applies to you.
I wasn't in the cradle listening Morbid Angel and neither were you.

I can see your point. For me personally I was raised on AC/DC, Van Halen, Rush, Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. I was literally in diapers when my family would play this stuff for me because they said id always bob my head to it haha. I really try to limit the pop stuff to only songs I can listen to while Im wasted. You can tell I have a broad spectrum of musical influence though. I wont leave my website here in respect to the SPAM policy, but just search my name on Yahoo or whatever and take a listen. Im sure youll find me in these band directories sooner or later. Nice to read a response from someone with a smart head on their shoulders rather than "f-u your stupid go eat sh**" haha.
