yea, i agree with what people are saying, the early 90's metallica influence is there, but a lot more technical, plus, they are still holding onto their sound from before... from what ive heard, it doesnt sound bad at all, i dig the clean vocals (even tho im more partial to heafy's previous mix style)... the musicianship is still there, big time.

i agree with broken face. they r copying metallica. its one thing to add them as an influence another to become a copy. matt tries to hard i think. natural is the way to go if yur trying to say aim this way its gonna suck, if u just play it , it might be good. ember to inferno that was a just play it album and its really good, thats a trivium album...ascendancy (however u spell it) thats a good album and it sounds like they just played it. the crusade....nothing new, nothing that makes u say " wow thats different cuz its old stuff and has been done a million times before. i guess in some factors its cool cuz their bringing it back but i think they already established their music in their last 2 albums and now their "mainstreaming" and trying to get other ppl which is good and all but if its for money, dont get me wrong i like trivium(old stuff) and their amazing musicians but break up now cuz its only gonna f*** them up later.

if your expecting the same as the last album, you'll be dissapointed. i've already heard the new album on limewire and they have a completley different sound on this cd. it's not bad, i've heard alot worse, but the vocals are alot different. i think they're trying too hard to be the next metallica. Matt sings through most of the disc, and only drops the really heavy vocals on maybe 3 songs. Brokenface pretty much nailed it, i think they f*cked up on this one. the potential is there, but they seem to have $$ on the brain. I saw them at SOTU and i knew they were goin down hill.

I reviewed The Crusade just prior to release and I have to say, as accessable as the new material may be, it was hard to adjust to the fact that I was listening to Trivium. For what it is, it's great....some of the lyrics are mood killers but the music is welldone and fans of catchy clean vocal modern thrash will flip.

i have a lot of respect for the talent that these guys have, however, corey says they cant wait to play the new songs live. I hope they sound better live than the old ones did. If they tighten up their live sound I would much rather see these guys repping main stream metal (cause it sounds like that is what they are shooting for w/ the new tunes) along w/ lamb of god than those motherf***ers in avenged sevenfold.....just a thought
