Metallica's Lullaby Renditions Due Out This Month

How many sleepless nights have new parents spent trying to soothe a restless newborn? With the August 29 release of "Lullaby Renditions of Metallica" (cover), a solution is on the way. Enter Sandman.
That's right, the music that set the standard for aggressive, concussion-inducing rock will soon be lulling infants to sleep through dreamy re-workings of their head-banging fury. Classics like "Battery" and "Master of Puppets" feature glockenspiel, vibraphone, melotron, harps, bells and more. The music is arranged and performed by Michael Armstrong.
Part of the Rockabye Baby! series from Baby Rock Records, the METALLICA edition includes 11 of the band's most well-known songs. For those who grew up cranking "...And Justice for All" until their ears bled, it's a chance to share with a new generation the music of a band that's sold 29 million albums. At appropriate volume levels, of course.
Due on August 29, the METALLICA version is one of the first three releases in the series, along with albums of RADIOHEAD and COLDPLAY renditions. Future releases will focus on music from TOOL, THE CURE, NIRVANA, PIXIES, BJORK, PINK FLOYD, THE EAGLES, LED ZEPPELIN, THE BEATLES, THE BEACH BOYS, NO DOUBT, SMASHING PUMPKINS, and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
Children's music is the fastest growing musical category. The Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions series is targeting today's parents with today's tastes in a way that's gentle enough for even the youngest listener.
The albums will be available both in the respective artist's bin and "Children's Music" bin at retailers. Visit www.babyrockrecords.com for additional information and sound clips.

Why not, they've made every other type of covers album practically. Metallica's music (the classic old stuff anyway) transcends genres. The Bluegrass cover album I got for my dad was actually pretty damn good.
Apocalyptica has done some amazing covers with 4 cellos.
This one is kinda bizarre though.

I guess someone will buy it. It just seems (and sounds-I went to the site) SO weird.
I got Cocteau Twins for my Neice and Nephew when they were born, Metallica just seems so incongruent on sooo many levels-even as in a Lullaby form. The music-oddy-isn't substantial enough...?

We used to be able to get my little bro off to sleep with heavy metal itself, not lullaby versions. Now he's six and he loves Metallica and Motorhead. Perhaps parents should try that approach. They get the kid off to sleep and they get a cool kid when he's older!

Are they worried about the heavy versions damaging the kids somehow, or is it yet another marketing gimmick? My nephews listened to metal since they were born (nothing's wierder than hearing a 6yr old singing W.A.S.P.'s "L.O.V.E. Machine") and they're well-adjusted straight-A students. It's all about parenting. Me and their dad just took the oldest one to his first concert(Evergrey/Nevermore/In Flames) and he loved it. Should Metallica be lullabys? No. And another question-Exactly HOW are they going to make PINK FLOYD songs into lullabys? A lot of their songs are slower than lullabys anyway.

As a teenager I used to blast Metallica (that was the heaviest music I was into then - first 5 albums including Garage Days, not the Black album) lay on my bed and fall asleep after school or work. I don't know how or why my parents put up with that sh**. My room was right under theirs.
I agree that it's about parenting, etc. My 3 year old likes my music in the car as well. I try not to play too brutal stuff and nothing with bad language (comprehensible at least), but he seems to like it all unless it's too loud.

I think this is really gonna defile Metallica's name.
I find slow stuff annoying, I actually listen to stuff like Cannibal Corpse and Devildriver to help me fall asleep. why would this help babies go to sleep?
("along with albums of RADIOHEAD and COLDPLAY renditions" I've heard like 2 songs from coldplay and from what I heard you can't possibly get anymore lullabye-like than that.)
this is so damn gay

Yes I have. Richard Cheese is very good at what he does but I get bored. I don't like lounge music very much. If anything he just makes me laugh. I found out about him from Dawn of the Dead with " Down With The Sickness" by Disturbed. But I didn't even know he did Pantera or Slayer. I'll have to check that out. I think It's weird but I know people that really enjoy everything he does and he's definitely original.

Wow....in my opinion, it's just giving Metallica a bad name. I have been listening to the Black Album since I was seven, and every other one of their albums since then. I grew up normal, I fell asleep at night. I don't know why they can't just hand out Kill 'Em All when you are born. That would be a better way to get fans.
