Sorry Zakk, but that's always going to be nothing more than a fantasy for you. Get real, Pantera is never going to reunite. Just in case anyone has forgotten, let me remind you all that Vinnie and Phil aren't exactly friends these days. I can't see them ever performing together again. I know there's always a tiny chance, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say there really isn't.
Sorry to burst any bubbles.

no, i pretty much agree with steve, there. there's a VERY slim chance for this "possibility" but i disagree with everyone else in that he WOULD be the only one to TRY and fit Dime's shoes for a reunion gig or two. They were best friends and it's almost like they grew up together (did they? idk that much). But, shredding skillwise, he also makes the mot sense. No one else logically fits in that very skewered scenario. just my opinion tho. to ach his own, i guess.

Whoever it is has a thankless impossible task because he is replacing someone irreplacacble.Zakk would be paying homage NOT replacing Dimebag. These shows if they happen would be a great way to pay tribute and as a vayne theories states any long-term thing is not going to happen i hope i am wrong on this but i don't think Pantera will ever get back or at least as we know them.

Personally I think if maybe 10-15 years down the track phil and vinnie decide to get the cowboys back together in honor of dime and get zakk who i think is one of few who could live up to dimes legacy not only in playing ability but because they were best friends then it would be an awsome spectacle in metal history not only to see the remaining members of pantera back together playing maybe not for themselves but for dime and the fans but also to see one of metal biggest bands jamming with one of teh last remaining axe gods zakk wylde. Hey it took Black Sabbath 20 years to bury the hatchet maybe if Phil hasnt kicked it in that time they will do a show or two for us fans. We can only dream.....Long Live the Cowboys From Hell!

OK.....WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME....WHY WOULD THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH EVEN THE NOTION OF ZAKK PLAYING PANTERA MATERIAL?? AS FAN'S WERE BETTER OFF WITH TAKING THE WAIT AND SEE ATTITUDE. NONE OF US TRUELY KNOW IF VINNY, PHIL AND REX WOULD TAKE THE STAGE AS PANTERA AGAIN. WE GO TO SHOWS AND BUY CD'S! NONE OF US KNOW ANYTHING UNTIL IT HAPPENS. LOOK AT THE EXTREME SHINE ON THIS BRIGHT SIDE........ZAKK WYLDE WOULD PLAY ANYTHING OF DIMES WITH THE MOST PASSION AND CREATIVITY THAN PROBABLY ANYONE ELSE AROUND. KEEP IN MIND HIS TAKE ON RANDY RHOADS IS NOTHING SHORT OF BRILLIANT! EVERYONE SHOULD BE PLEASED WITH EVEN THE CHACE OF THIS GOING DOWN! DIME WAS TRUELY ONE OF A KIND, BUT SO IS ZAKK!! AS, FAR AS WHETHER VINNIE AND PHIL WILL BURY THERE HATCHET REMAINS TO BE SEEN. HERE'S SOME EVIDENCE THAT IN METAL ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE....GOOD.....BAD....OR JUST RIDICULOUS!!! Here's a great example!...Jason Newstead quits Metallica.....to join in with two teenaged rocker's....then joins Voivod....accepted and declined a gig with Ozzy....to replace his new replacement in Metallica....back to Voivod...now on a weekly series looking VERY RIDICULOUS...along with gnr reject gilby clark....but he's redeemed with the chance to play with T. lee...the only thing worth notin about this show...while his replacent who's played with Suicidal...Ozzy...with Zakk...and Black Label....now has his gig with Metallica!
So do you still think you know how this Zakk and Pantera thing may turn out?? I sure hope not!!

I suppose VO is right. Anything is possible in the world of music. But I still believe what I originally said, and the metalunderground article titled, "Vinnie Paul: 'I Will Never Talk To Philip Anselmo.'", pretty much backs me up.
So it's true, "never say never", but if you did in this case you probably wouldn't be wrong.
And to metal2death: It's not that anyone here wouldn't love for Pantera to get back together for a few shows. It's that we're not going to get our hopes up for something that isn't likely to happen. There's a better chance of (at least a semi-permanent) Jimmy Page/Robert Plant reunion. It's just a bit of a harsh reality.

If there was anyone on the planet that could come close to playing Dimes parts in a reformed Pantera, it's Zakk f***in Wylde. Do I see this event actually taking place? No. Too much has happened. Phil and Rex are with Down. Zakk has a full plate with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and Ozzy. Not to mention a family and whatever else he does. I just dont see think it would be a good idea or work out for all parties involved. R.I.P. Dimbag. Pantera is over. We have that a$$hole who shot him to thank for this. BLEED BLACK LABEL!!!!!

well, in all honesty the best idea would be to have a few guys that have been best friends with dareel to play like a few shows with the reaminng pantera, like zakk for a few songs, someone else then someone else, so on and so forth for a few songs each. Wouldn't that be a lot better??? Then you could see more people playing for Dime instaed of just one.

i agree. leave it alone, even if it is zakk. the pantera story is a damn tragedy, and i wouldn't tarnish the memory of a great band any more. i personally don't want to see any kind of reunion, but i do hope there's more unreleased material, or side projects like rebel meets rebel that see the light of day.
