Machine Head, Converge, Vision of Disorder, Horse the Band and other special guests have been added to select dates on the Sounds of the Underground tour, featuring As I Lay Dying, In Flames, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Gwar, Terror, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, the Chariot, Through the Eyes of the Dead and Evergreen Terrace.

The tour, which represents some of the best independent-minded music available today, begins appropriately over the Independence Day holiday week, on July 8 in Cleveland and runs through August 12 winding up in Universal City, California.

The new additions are:

July 8 - July 17:

Horse the Band: One of the most visceral bands to blend screamo and noise, will be on the tour from its launch until July 17 in Columbia, Maryland (with the exception of July 12 in Montreal).

July 9 - July 17:

Converge: One of the leading voices in hardcore, will play seven shows starting July 9 in Tinley Park, Illinois and running through July 17 in Columbia, Maryland.

July 26 – July 29:

Job for a Cowboy: The band will take the SOTU stage July 26 in Mesa, Arizona and will play three shows, ending July 29 in Mountainview, California.

July 26 and July 28:

Shadows Fall, It Dies Today, Still Remains

July 29 - August 5:

Machine Head will storm the stages from Mountain View, CA on July 29 through St. Paul, MN on August 5.

Several other bands will play one show each:

Jul. 14 - Mansfield, MA - Killswitch Engage
Jul. 16 - Camden, NJ - Vision of Disorder (V.O.D.)
Jul. 17 - Columbia, MD - Municipal Waste, Dog Fashion Disco
Aug. 10 - Vancouver, Canada - 3 Inches of Blood

Okay, I've never listened to Horse The Band or Converge. Are either of them any good? Please let me know, I hope I'm not dissappointed. I already bought my ticket. I just wish that Machine Head was in Chicago instead! Shadows Fall or Killswitch Engage would be nice too.

Yeah, I wish Machine Head were on a major tour - they deserve the exposure. Through the Ashes of Empires is amazing. But I guess that should be next year, with a new record out.

Yeah, it would be bad a$$ to see machine head on all the dates for this tour. Oh well. I guess I'll have to deal with 3 inches of blood.

I don't think they went down hill. Personally I think their newest CD was the best out of all of them, and yes I do have all of them. I like Hellalive a lot too!

TTAOE was a goddamn amazing album. especially considering it came following albums like The Burning Red. With which I was under-impressed. I'm bloody excited to see where they go next with their music.
