I've been getting into In Flames lately, and I've loved everything I've heard by them. What In Flames CD would you recommend I get first?

The Jester Race is their best album. Period. Clayman is a fairly close second. All of their other albums are pretty solid, except for Reroute To Remain. A lot of people like it, but I personally think it was their worst. Soundtrack To Your Escape was just kind of eh, although The Quiet Place and My Sweet Shadow off STYE are simply b****in'. Lunar Strain is underrated as well, one of my favorites.

DIM - I agree, except that I hold Reroute slightly above STYE on my preferance list. probably because Trigger was the first IF song I ever heard, and i LOVED it.

and Armalyte, hell yeah, they'r all sweet songs - i still cant get over Only For The Weak, and I've been listening to it for HOW long now?!!

Alot of people think they 'sold out' with STYE, but I don't see what's wrong with it. I really like Touch Of Red.

I dont think they sold out, I just think the vocals where a bit too whiney for me. I prefer IF with vocals like on Clayman or Colony or Jester Race. They didnt sell out, it just wasnt as good as their previous efforts.

Behind Space in my opinion is one of the best songs out of the 90s, i recommend Lunar Strain, Jester Race, or the Subterannean EP, like someone else above recommended above At The Gates Slaughter of the Soul is f***in awesome

So, basically you recommend their older stuff. I haven't heard any of their stuff with the old vocalist. How different does he sound than the current vocalist?

he's tons better. rawer, if you know what I mean. probly cant sing quite so well, but hey, he wasnt really trying to. frankly, the new singer sounds slightly more commercial radio friendly than the old one, if you see what I mean. Not saying the new albums sound commercial radio friendly, mind you, just moreso than the older ones. lol, does anyone follow?

I think both vocalists have their own sound, and they each kick a55 in one way or another. and by the way, dark tranquility is an amazing band with a sound that will chill your bones. So listen to them and in flames now or i will have ur soul!!!!
