Def Leppard and Journey to Tour
Def Leppard and Journey will be doing a tour for VH1 Classic and Live Nation. Def Leppard's guitarist, Phil Collen said the following on the tour: "Only six months between tours for DEF LEPPARD...this is amazing...WOW. I think we're getting the hang of this! Usually, we always have to redefine and reorient ourselves to touring as we are used to a three year gap between tours because of the recording process. This time, we had the album in the can so we are good to go. We're really psyched to be hitting the road this summer and are looking forward to seeing all of our fans again."
Journey's keyboardist, Jonathan Cain also commented on the tour, here's what he had to say: "It's a band I've admired for a long time," he says. "We're honored to be performing with a band that received their Diamond Award (an award given for 10,000,000 albums sold) at the same ceremony when we received our Diamond Award. So it seems fitting that we go out together after all these years and celebrate a lot of good years of rock and roll."

I like these news briefs. it is worth a laugh, we all know they aren't metal, so the fact that journey is on metalunderground is worth laughing at, not getting upset about.
the motley crue news i dont like, because too many people confuse them for metal, but Journey? nahh

8. writes:
Ok they are not METAL.This is how older band's from the 70's and 80's survive. They attract older fan's to these typ of event's .The kind of older fan's that just can't go to the major venues & hear what they wan't to hear because those band's time has past. There are very few that could truly sell out a major venue.MOTLEY CRUE being the biggest of those old school band's that can still pack an Arena if not Stadium. One thing's for sure if you can get past the it's not METAL issue. You could go to this show and meet lot's of women. In theory of course.

Heh, well you were on top of it before I'd even seen the article. I can't check every story the instant it's posted, however much I try. I was about to remove it, but decided to keep it. Def Leppard had some hard rock/metal roots at least. But Journey did not need/deserve to be linked up at all.

20. writes:
LOL !!! I SHOUD NOT LAUGH BUT IT WAS FUNNY ! JOURNEY also gave us the POWER BALLAD althogh knowone in METAL does though's anymore.Atleast not as far as I'm aware. This is good because they brought more girl's to METAL show's.Anybody got a problem with that has way too much tetosteron for there own good or they are gay and need to admit it.Let's face it I'd rather get some POONANI than hang out in the pit.Anything that makes the hook up more convenient is good for me.Last but not least.DEF LEPARD has VIVIAN CAMPBELL of DIO fame so thier could be some outstanding guitare playing as well.

21. writes:
But damn dude want kind of hoochie you want? 40/50 something meth addicted biker
chicks with torn jeans and aqua net mullets? I'd rather go to emo and metalcore and punk
shows the chicks are much younger. Yeah I know no to many ladies go to the extreme metal shows
lol and if they did most of them are spoken for. The bars are a better scene anyways.

I would like to state for the record that I am an enormous fan of both journey and def lepp and I am only 22, female, not on meth and I don't have a mullet and no I am not a spandex wearing cow. I may not be Christy Brinkley but I'm also not an ugly hag either. Although I agree that the two bands are not metal, they both had a huge influence on music lovers, players and haters everywhere. Everybody knows their names. You all do! And don't mistake me for the lonely girl who sits in her room listening to open arms wishing I had Steve Perry, although I do want him, I am not that girl. My favorite bands are pink Floyd, Sabbath, and the gods...Metallica. Although, I can swallow my pride enough to say that I will be at this show in Missouri. Before its too late to see all of them play. No, it’s not metal, but it’s not gay and there will be chicks at this show my age that are not your stereo-typical un-metal/rock-pop heads wearing white boots and holy-mesh over shirts. Trust me. You might score. Oh yeah and Black dog, I love you, I named my black lab after you! hopefuly your'e not female but if you are, I suppose I love you anyway.

OK ... OK ... ok.I suppose I'm a little bit of a closet WARRANT fan.HEAVEN ISN'T TOO FAR AWAY,CHERRY PIE(especially the video)MACHINE GUN,I SAW RED & YES UNCLE TOM'S CABIN are good song's.Thier are a few band's from that era that I don't necessarily want to admit being a fan of back then.Like POISON,FASTER p***y CAT(the early stuff)VINNIE VINCENT INVASION & unfortunatley yes this does include WARRANT & WINGER.THEY WERE GOOD BAND'S .However when the GRUNGE movement started(what was grunge really?)This was eventually followed up by BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD dissing them and as a result ending multiple careers.I don't know I just have a problem admitting to likeing them.I KNOW I'M WEAK !
Most grunge music was about crying over how pathetic your life was.HELLO WE KNOW LIFE SUCK'S ! I don't need anyone to tell me that.It was ok in the beginning (when it was just certain band's doing the depressed thing)then as usual the record industry saw a cash cow & the next thing you know ROCK is not cool unless it's either depressing or psychotic. They did the same thing to Hip Hop.That's how you get LIL JON.

34. writes:
BLACKDOG, f*** you. i know thoes bands were influencial. your a dumbass for saying that. brian adams is more metal then you on your best day. for your info im waaaaaay over 16. so you can suck my d*** and its spelled hendrix, you dumbf***. plus i am just as metal as morbid angel. so you can shove your queen up your ass.

35. writes:
Hey RULIN,
How the heck are you, you judgmental c***-smoker? In regards to what you said... "But your from Missouri so that explains your musical tastes you probably listen to Big and Rich too
nice try hillbilly."
By the way, how far did you get in school, the second grade? You spelled 'you’re' wrong dip sh**. And its not ‘tastes,’ its taste. (-; No, I'm not particularly fond of ‘Big and Rich,’ but then again, I can learn to appreciate any music. That is way more than I can say for your close-minded ass! I myself am curious to know how old you are and why the hell you even think that someone as uneducated as you is merited an opinion in music? Listen, I have some advice for you. Why don't you go back in the kitchen, smack something in the ass, I don't know, your mom, girlfriend, boyfriend, a pig, then go to the basement, fire up some crack and put some ‘Slayer’ on while you think about how you’re going to live with your parents until you’re fifty. Then when you’re children grow up and resent you for your music you can say, "hey, it was cool in my day." Then they will call you an uneducated 'hillbilly." Okay? No offense, of course!
of course(-:<

37. writes:
nice try dumb kunt is that supposed to hurt my feelings? You and the other dipshiits on this thread
are journey fans and what is the name of this site and trying(and failing) to talk smack to me? I rest my case and i probably listen to more
types of music punk, industrial, (old) country than you can probably fathom go back to listening
your Nelly cds and don't forget your appointment at the methadone clinic. Cause coke money can only take you so far ya silly a$$ tramp.
you so far

39. writes:
Good one freshfist.
Oh Rulin, I laugh mockingly at how you seem to think you know me. I never pretended to know you. I'll say it again...I listen to all types of music. I don't really like Nelly/RAP, country or even the latest MTV POP, but trust me, I appreciate any creation. Let me get this straight, you listen to country, old country no less, but I’m the loser for liking Journey? Wow! I’m sorry; I must be the hypocrite obviously. You seem to think that by using the word 'fathom' that I'm going to hopefully assume you're over the age of sixteen, but I'm just not getting it.
Now, I know right now you’re probably feeling angry and confused but it's going to be alright. You have all the time in the world to learn how to suck yourself off when you're serving time for beating your wife. So don't get so frustrated. It will happen for you I'm sure. Seriously, you have to stop beating yourself up about all of this. Look, I just received my degree in psychology, so I would like to give you a free lesson. You are obviously suffering from some serious pent up rage. Your father may not have loved you enough or your mother stopped breast-feeding too soon. You need to find a calming outlet.
Seriously, I'm no better than you because obviously I'm immaturely bashing you, and ruling you I might add, as you are trashing us Journey and Def Leppard fans. However, I would like to offer you one tiny piece of advice. This one will really help you. GO BACK TO SCHOOL! I know your wages at Burger King won't cover it but you can get student loans to pay for your courses. And please for the love of god, do not waste your money on more anger waging drugs. In fact, maybe you should try a vicodin or a percocet. It might calm you down. Just go lift some weights and think about it for a while. Try some calming music this time.
You spelled it:
Kunt
Correct spelling:
c*** WITH A 'C'
I won’t even touch the grammatical errors. I just don’t have the time.
Have a nice day!

40. writes:
damn!! you are a dumb kunt. he spelled it that way, so you could read it, dumbass. you have a degree in psychology? absolutely fukking worthless. just what we need, another college uneducated imbecile. you bad-mouth him, then tell him to take worthless drugs. you are a total fukking fraud. you should get your money back, from the university of idiotarian, psycho-liberal, fag school you went to. go hug a tree, while on your way to the abortion clinic. stupid CUUUUUUNNNNTTT!!!!

41. writes:
Oh this is fun! Here, I’ll play along. “fukk this and fukk that. You fukking idiats. I think yure a stooped hore. Kiss my asz. I’m so kool because I listen too scarry and deep musik with diztortion only and I reelly feel it man. Letz smoke anuther joynt!” - How clever.

42. writes:
Hahaha. Dr. Trailer Trash thinks she owns me that's a good one. Im sure you local starbucks
apprecitates your psychology degree while your serving the latest latte go back to listening your
washed up 80's hairband cds and kindly fukk off. And as for you freshanalfisting simply the
fact that you are avenged sevenfold glamfag the only biitch is your dumb mom i see all the
time on those milf hunter sights. You guys are stuck in the 80's you know that metal has moved
on right? This is fun.

43. writes:
Oh so we're mom bashing now. Well, Rulin, you've hit a new low. You've officially run out of things to say. Do you even hold a position in this argument? Or is your purpose on this discussion simply to try to enrage us? Really, I have to know. Are you fighting for something? All you seem to be coming up with is name-calling. Okay. The point is this- you say Journey sucks, right? Can you give a legitimate reason to actually justify why you think they suck? What bands do you listen to? I seriously want to know. There is no right or wrong here, because it’s opinion. So quit the whining and stereotyping. Get over it. Every band can be ‘bashed.’
On a side note, I wish we had a Starbucks here. Dear God I live in Hicksville U.S.A.
Hey wait a minute. What’s wrong with Avenged Sevenfold? They kick some serious..how you say...ass?! No, no, I remember... Azs! ( ;

47. writes:
Well Dr. Phil im glad you asked that particular question and i wasn't directing that milf comment to
you it was your imbecile friend freshanalfisting. First of all those two aforementioned bands with maybe
the exception and i am talking about Def Leppard from the late 70's to the early 80's are not metal at
all. This is not pop-music.com or emoglamfags/scenekids.com this is metalunderground.com
Journey is not metal, Assend Semenhold is not metal hell even deathbringer said this article should
not been featured on this site and BTW with maybe the exception of the glam fag and her love
for avenged sevenfold wtf are you doing on this site if you are a Journey fan isn't there a VH1.com
or some sh** you can go to?

OK CHURCHES.If you knew it you would not have saide it so go f*** YOURSELF ! If you really are that metal ounce againe you would not have saide it.You actually talk about freddie being gay then tell someone to suck your d*** ?!? Come on you can do better than that.Your WAAAAAAAAAY over 16 but you respond like a typical high school kid when your card get's pulled. You might be METAL your still a clown.I'm a dumb a$$ but you contradict yoursef so what does that make you.Hell you made a gay sex reference on a GNR feed.Who do you think your fooling. You want perfect spelling read the paper. In the mean time GET OVER YOUR SELF!

And another thing.Implying that BRIAN ADAM'S IS MORE METAL THAN ME IS ALOT LIKE SAYING JAZMIN ST.CLAIRE IS A VIRGIN!!!! YOU IGNORANT d***HEAD.If you were going to question my street cred you would have been better off mentioning BILLY SQUIER atleast then you'd be on the wright track.Eventually I got into MOTLEY CRUE & RATT.Then eventually discoverd DIO,JUDAS PRIEST & IRON MAIDEN etc. This took me to ANTHRAX , TESTAMENT , SLAYER & So fourth. Then finally an old friend suggested that I look into the old school. This is when I discoverd Zeplin , Sabbath Deep Purple/RainBow.I mean I could go on.
Your as METAL as Morbid Angel Huh ?... If you wanted to impress me you'd have saide MERCIFUL FATE you f***ing JACK OFF !

I am aware of King Diamond's work outside of his band.I was never the biggest fan of his but I appreciated it.I remember when I first found out about him being an actual Satanist.Up to that point I thought it was just a joke or something. Then I read the article in Hit Parader.I asked my study hall teacher(the old friend in question & jewish at that)He got this look on his face and say's "How could you not have known".I thought he was gonna slap me.

I agree with black dog 110 %, i'm an old rocker who has had the privelidge of seeing most of the bands mentioned in post # 59 live back in the day, with the exception of zepp. churches, you have no idea of what you are talking about and no intelligence to back up what you say. though journey is no where near metal, they played their part in the evolution of rock. though def leppard was much harder than journey, still not metal, but played thier part in the evolution of rock. it's probably pretty easy for you to spout off about something you can never experiance, seeing as you are more than likely around 15 or 16, and all full of yourself. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE ROOTS OF METAL. HIMMM!!!!

56. writes:
hey fresh fa**ot i was implying that this site should be for metal purposes only not pop music
with a singer that's not even the original vocalist for that band how gay is that? So do me a favor don't get your
mullet in a bind if folks wan't to make fun of your glam rock worship. Silly fag dikks are for chicks.
PWNED!!

How come when there's a roots of metal discussion Venom always gets left out....
These bands aren't metal, end of discussion. It's like posting about Allan Holdsworth on this site and then arguing about how great he is. Sure he's a guitar god, but he's sure not f***ing metal so whats the point.
Mercyful Fate was awesome, never really liked KD other stuff even with Andy LaRocque.
59. writes:
Cynic your right Venom deserves reverence(so does VOIVOD) in this kind of discussion. We kind of got side tracked over other thing's particularly a remark concerning Freddie mercury & Queen.Yeah sure they are not metal but you can't deny the influence of that legendary band which in actuality is what we are discussing influences not so much root's......Actually I suppose one is really just another way to say the other at the end of the day.In any event a friend of mine that I was discussing this with reminded me of another LEGENDARY BAND.That I shamefully some how managed to forget about The SCORPION'S.Now that is an old school band I would pay good money to see. They haven't been to my neck of the wood's in year's though.I was just at the web site it's pretty cool. The VIRGIN KILLER'S album cover is a classic.I gotta get it as a T-SHIRT.... The SCHENKER BOS.YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT !!!!

62. writes:
We've actually had it pretty easy this year.Hopefully we'll have another good summer. But let's face it sooner or later were gonna get slammed with a 5' to 6' snow fall sooner or later.I'm glad I'm used to this sh**.People in the south get one inch and they close the road's f***ing hillarious ! So how've you been ?

63. writes:
great. we had an easy winter in the twin cities too. none of that minus 70 crap this year. haven't had the snowmobile out for three years. have to go up to the boundary waters area to find decent snow depth. rode the dirtbikes every month this winter. three winters in a row. seen sevendust at the myth in maplewood,mn. in march. damn, sure is nice to hear them live. totally different perspective. be cool. later.
64. writes:
GOOD POINT.That's why I hate it when the newbies start dissing old school.I've saide it more times than I want to remember. But If most of those old seminal band's did not exist you would not have the band's that are out thier right now.And any of these new band's will tell you they loved QUEEN THE SCORPION'S MOTLEY CRUE ETC.
67. writes:
wow, i'm impressed, most, (with a few exceptions) everybody is actually making good points on this thread instead of talking out thier asses. props to blackdog and freshfist, we got to keep these youngsters in line. and to all these that think there was no metal before the year 2000, try some of the older stuff out and maybe, just maybe, you might learn something. here's another couple for ya black dog, uriah heep (all the kids are saying "uriah who?") and deep purple. HIMMM!!!!!

70. writes:
hey fresh fa**ot ever heard of a band called Slick Idiot probably not and since my narrow minded a$$ went and
saw that band last Sun. that features En Esch formerly of KMFDM and i have been to shows like them Bile
Razed In Black, Punk shows and hell even some rap shows im one the most opened minded individuals
around when it comes to music but since when has Journey was even considered metal? Lite
rock pretty much sums them up in the 80's and perhaps maybe they were a little bit heavier in
the seventies and FYI i listen to stuff like Nazereth, Blackfoot, Uriah Heap and so forth that was
rock music imo not mullet glam fag garbage like all that awful shiit that came out in the mid to
late 80's Hysteria had to be one of the worse rock cds in modern history how can a band that went
from good bar english rock n roll from one album (pyromania) to bubble gum music in a period
of 4 years? You tell me fresh prince of glam flair.
