Trivium Confirmed For Download Festival

Trivium have been confirmed to play alongside Prodigy and Bullet For My Valentine at this years Download Festival set to take place June 9-11 in Donnington, UK. More acts will be announced each week leading up to the event.
Trivium are infamously connected with the festival after they were moved to the main stage last year after their stellar performance on the Roadrage Tour. As a result the performance received a host of accolades including Kerrangs! 10th best gig of all time.
Matt Heafy relishes thoughts of last years event: "It was a rainy, dreary, grey, chilly morning in jolly old England last June at Donington Park when I remember trying to run in place to shake off some nerves and warm up before our bumped-up-from-third-stage-to-main-stage Download show. The doors weren't open yet, and goddamn was that the biggest empty field I ever saw in my life. I was nervous. But when those doors opened, Trivium was witness to a new beginning 40,000 screaming, moshing fans filled into a sea of bodies.
"Download 2005 was the turning point of our career, and after that show, people knew who we are and what we are planning to do... take over this world.
"To be part of this incredible festival again this year is an honor. Last year it made Trivium a much bigger band and I can only imagine what the hell this year holds for us. One thing is certain, it draws us closer to our ultimate goal."

While I don't think Trivium are the next big thing, they are clearly students of the classic Metallica style....In all respects but vocals.....with their own spin on todays sound thrown in....
I hate to say this but Metallica will be there and they need to take some f***ing notes.....Not that they should emulate Trivium but notice that Trivium have gotten pretty far by working some of Metallicas pioneering traits into a sound that is functional, technical, moshable and marketable.....More than 20 f***ing years later.

How can you not say Trivium isnt the next big thing. Granted they wont be as big as metallica, Slayer or Pantera. But I do believe they will be as big as Mudvayne, or Iron Maiden. for examples of popularity, NOT comparisons in band styles.
Trivium has 2 quality cd's out before the ages of 23. Theyve been playing together for 7 years, and in a metal market does alot to sound THE SAME. they bring a fresh sound to the party. The vocals can easily be compared to metallica. With some harder parts. and some heavier parts. Metallica didnt do it in the same song, but on the same album. (See Master of Puppets).
Dont try to label me for comparing the two, or dissing any of the bands forementioned. But I heavily feel Trivium has a sound that with expansion, experience, and age. They could be a f***ing huge band.

I meant to say with some harder parts, and some more singing like. They dont go along the lines of Metallica but if you compare say, Memory Remains, where the chorus is a little harder then the rest of the song.
Now like (RM?) said they do it with todays sound in it. Which is heavy harder vocals, and more singing, almost emo-but not so emo-ish singing.

They would only bring a fresh sound to a fan of mainsream metal, bands like At The Gates and In Flames have played melodic thrashy metal in the early ninties, they just never dressed like a 14 year olds crush and sang with clean vocals, nothing against Trivium but I have heard it all before.

Trivium ARE likely to achieve the Mudvayne level fame at some point...Thats a given....
When I say "next big thing" I mean as a band that we'll be referencing 15+ years from now. A band that did something that had not been done before.
Trivium arent moving any mountains as far as I'm concerned...But they are very good at what they do....I think they need to work on some soundscaping and stregthen the the hardcore and harmony vocals....Lots of potential, just nothing I havent heard before.

This band is extremely talented and I agree with most people on this that vocals could be better. But the musicians are amazing. The solos are awesome and they could definitely hold there own on stage. If they were to get a good singer they would move mountains in my book.

Opeth f***ing rock...Thats the thick and thin of it....
While there are better vocalists out there than Opeths, you really can't ask for more from Ackerfeldt...He writes the songs from the ground up (most clocking in at 7-15 minutes) he sings both clean and death vocals...both vocal styles with multiple ranges high and low and plays guitar on top of that.
Thats alot to do....Opeth are almost absurd, no band should try to take on the load that band does....

memo to matt heafy: you are a metal-core band, you are not going to take over the world....why not try playing some real metal as you are talented musicians and could probably pull it off...until then, dont ever say that again. better yet, first let Behemoth, Nile, Demiricous, Slayer, etc know that you are here to take over the world....good luck
