Atreyu Film New Video For Track Off Underworld: Evolution
Band Photo: Atreyu (?)
As Atreyu nears the completion of their third album on Victory Records, they will take a short break to film a video for Her Portrait in Black, their exclusive track on the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack. Atreyu join artists like Slipknot, Trivium, Mendozza, Lacuna Coil and Cradle of Filth for this sequel to the hit movie Underworld, which stars Kate Beckinsale and is directed by Len Wiseman. The video will be directed by Rob Schroeder (The Postal Service, Breaking Benjamin), who teams up with cinematographer Lukas Ettlin (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Queens of the Stone Age – Little Sister, Marilyn Manson – Personal Jesus). Performance footage of Atreyu rocking will be intercut with footage from the movie; the resulting video will match the look of the movie and feature shots from all aspects of the film. Look for it on MTV, MTV2 and Fuse in early 2006.

i used to really like atreyu untill 11 year old fags and kids who had no idea what a metal song is made off started going "omg do you listen to atreyu, they're sooo kewl". i think that happened because the curse was so toned down compared to suicide notes... the curse dissapointed me as a fan. and vendetta is right if you want a band that really kicks a$$ listen to trivium.

why the hell do people read news articles and think to themselves "ohhh man gotta go complain about how sh!t this band is, ive got nothing better to do". Why the fu** do people bother. What do you get out of it, most people reading the articles will be the people interested in the band so why would they give a flying fu** about someone who hates them . No one cares if you hate em. Dont waste your energy typing negative posts

i think atreyu rocks, and all those nerds righting sh*t about atreyu are all fa*s cause they probably all listen too cold play and red hot chili peppers, mean they have nothing better to do then go to all the metal sites and put down bands that actually sound good and that u dont have to be a p***y to listen too.

And I'm betting that a lot of you sh*t-talkers here fall into one of a couple of categories:
1) Scenesters who think that anything that has some mainstream success is crap; in short, because it's not underground anymore.
2) People who have a band that will never come close to seeing the success that Atreyu has so far.
3) People who don't have a band and have no appreciation for how difficult it is to start a band, keep it going for a relatively long time, and get to the level of success that Atreyu has gotten to. Seriously, try getting a band going. Try practicing and keeping the band going for more than a year. Try touring; particularly, cross-country touring. Try getting signed to a record label and dealing with all the entailed BS. See if you can do all that, become somewhat successful, and keep it going long enough for bigger & better labels to take interest and sign you, just to see if you can deal with all the previously mentioned BS on a greater level. And try having a life, along with everything that entails, while you have the band going.
When you don't fit into the above three groups, THEN you have the right to talk sh*t on Atreyu. Until then, put a f***ing sock in it.

I can care less if any band is on a major. Maiden and Priest are on majors and Morbid
Angel was on a major label at one time as well. I just get sick of seeing these transvestite's like them and avenged sevenfold that look more like biitches than Cher
trying to pawn this trendy faggy hot topic sh** on folks and calling it metal. They are
a fraud like the rest of the emo hardcore fag scene. Have a nice day scenester dorks!

The first time I ever heard Atreyu, I started laughing. Everything about them was laughable to me; from the name of the record Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses to the overly typical "singing into screaming into mosh" formula they followed, to the already played out "fashioncore" image they displayed. However, after my laughter subsided, I also said to myself, "this band is going to be huge." Sure enough, a few years down the line, Atreyu is on Ozzfest, selling out shows to random teens in AFI shirts and moving units like it's going out of style. It turns out I was right about their success. It also turns out that I still think they are comical, but this time on a different level; as a talented band that just happens to be very gimmicky.
The first thing I noticed about this record though was the horrible cover art; a model in just a bra and underwear with vampire fangs instead of teeth- so utterly ridiculous. Upon my first listening of The Curse I noticed that Atreyu is as much in debt to arena rockers like Journey as they are to the metal bands they constantly try emulate. The first two (real) songs "Bleeding Mascara" and "Right Side of the Bed" really set the pace for the entire record; blazing riffs, hilariously silly lyrics like "lips are quivering like a withering rose," c*** rock parts, screaming, and over the top singing. There is also the occasional breakdown just to keep the bro's happy. The rest of the record follows in this same pattern, no song really separating itself much from the next.
Incidentally, I don't hate this as much as I wanted to because (sadly) Atreyu really does know how to write a fairly catchy song. The Curse is nothing I would listen to on a regular basis, but compared to the records that many of their contemporaries are releasing, this one is at least somewhat interesting. My guess is that this record won't really win over people who hate Atreyu, but those who are already fans will be pleased.

Sorry, emo, short for EMOCORE, has been around long before Atreyu. And despite being widely associated with pathetic whining vocals and music, there are some decent emocore bands out there. Perhaps "emo" should be disassociated with "emocore" because of the current connotations.
Atreyu certainly could be labelled emo(core), although they exhibit many traits of modern melodic metalcore as well.

Emocore? Give me a break. Emo died in the late nineties. Bands such as Atreyu, Taking Back Sunday, or My Chemical Romance contain NO traits of real emo whatsoever. Emo today is just a product of MTV and pop culture. You can say that Atreyu are a bunch of fa**ots, p***ies, whiny f***s.. whatever. That's your opinion.. never the less, they are NOT emo.

Victory records is the home of straight edge fa**ottry if Jamey Jasta didn't host
the EmoScreamo Mod Fags Ball on Mtv2 victory would still be a small label the
arguement here is that these trendy cokk rokk bands that are todays version
of Slaughter should not be mentioned on this site and I will admit I used to jone
a certain nu-metal band but I will give them credit at least they sounded remotely
metal and not trying to be the Bay City Rollers of the 21st century like these homos.

What does it prove that your pre-teen dumbass can't spell? Or all you fashioncore
fags look ridiculous in your Beatleesque hairdo's and your fukkin girlie jeans and
bandannas in your backpockets oh I forgot the black SWAT hats too in the crowd jumping and
karate kicking around like your Jackie Chan on Ritalin. You guys are not metal quit
trying to be something that you are not. Fans of this scene are Rainbow Flag waving
imposters. Go ahead and flame away.

punk and metal hardly exists anymore because all the stupid poser bands like billy talent have tottaly destroyed the meaning of punk and metal. the new generation has been tottaly fuc*ed over and its all crap. atreyu is about as real as you can get if you want metal or punk.

.......its true.
.....the meaning of emo is being blown out of proportion at the same time though. now emo is turning into a trend being followed by a bunch of posers; the term emo reffers to emotional(duh).....why the f*** is being emotional frowned upon by some and why are people claiming to be emo when its a retarded statement in the first place? its retarded. atreyu is a bit of everything....rock....metal...punk and they are probably one of the few bands that exist today that can actually call themselfs "emo"
